The OpportunityAs an Analyst, Business Strategy & Analytics, you’ll sit at the heart of how decisions get made at Designer Brands. This role is part of the Analytics Center of Excellence and is deeply embedded with the business—turning data into insight, insight into clarity, and clarity into action.
You’ll support Designer Brands end to end, while developing deep expertise within a specific analytics discipline—merchandise, marketing, or digital analytics. In this role, you’ll help shape how teams understand performance, uncover opportunities, and make smarter decisions across our portfolio of brands and channels.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys solving meaningful business problems, partnering closely with others, and using data storytelling to influence both day-to-day execution and longer-term strategy.
What You’ll Be DoingDelivering Insights That Drive Decisions- Develop and deliver accurate, timely reporting and analysis to support:
- Tactical operations
- Strategic initiatives
- Short- and long-term business decisions
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights tailored to different audiences, including senior leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to:
- Understand analytic needs
- Design ad hoc analyses and scalable, long-term solutions
- Act as a bridge between business teams and shared service partners to ensure strong data governance, integrity, and usability.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain reporting tools, systems, and dashboards.
- Troubleshoot moderately complex system and data issues, recommending and implementing effective solutions.
- Support user adoption through training, documentation, and ongoing enablement.
- Lead or contribute to initiatives and project workstreams, including:
- Stakeholder coordination
- User training
- Change management support
- Develop and analyze key performance indicators such as:
- Sales
- Margin
- Inventory productivity
- Product lifecycle performance
- Inform product, assortment, and channel decisions across multiple business models.
- Participate in business meetings and category reviews to stay close to trends, performance, and opportunity areas.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the application of retail math and statistics.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data mining and reporting using tools such as Strategy, Tableau, or SQL.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, including:
- Statistical functions
- Pivot tables
- Data visualization
- Ability to transform complex data into clear, actionable tables, charts, and insights.
- Experience working with multiple data sources and validating data accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, ensure accuracy, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences, including leadership.
- Comfort training others and supporting adoption of analytics tools and processes.
- For Digital Analytics specialization: experience with Adobe Analytics.
- 3+ years in a corporate retail analyst, planning, or financial role.
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Office, including MS Access.
- Experience using Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
