As the Analyst, Business Analytics & Modeling, you’ll work under the direction of the VP – FP&A to deliver precise forecasts and accurate models that deliver the insights necessary to optimise planning and decision-making. You'll also play a key role in leading analytics deep dives, building new capabilities, automating processes, and arming stakeholders across the business with the information and advice needed to win.

Translating macroeconomic effects and microeconomic personal intermediated decision-making into accurate and precise predictions is no small feat and requires a ton of team-based continuous improvement.

Oh, and yes, being fun matters. A lot.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assemble, analyze and transform large complex data sets using Python & SQL (or comparable tools) to understand borrower behavior and optimizing merchant pricing decisions
  • Support the development and delivery of on-time high-quality daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly Lender (e.g., Portfolio Performance), and Financial (e.g., IFRS) dashboards and reports
  • Leverage Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to streamline workflows, enhance content creation, and automate repetitive administrative tasks.
  • Continuously improve departmental efficiency by identifying opportunities to apply automation, data pipelines, and AI to your work (e.g. forecast model, monthly financial reports etc.)
  • Build and refine accurate unit economic, borrower-level vintage, segment and valuation models to enhance customer lifetime value
  • Build and refine cashflow and profitability forecasts across products, segments, and stakeholders
  • Communicate findings and recommendations through compelling visualizations & dashboards, and clear & concise executive-level presentations
  • ​​Go beyond the surface level to build sophisticated yet explainable models that connect data to real-world events, customer attitudes and behaviors to deliver insights and inform high-value business decisions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and goals to proactively ensure they have the models, tools, and insights needed to succeed
  • Participate in strategic projects and initiatives related to financial optimization
  • Document all policies, strategies, data sets, and tools (using tools like Confluence) in ways that ensure clarity and a seamless and accurate internal transfer of knowledge
  • Foster a team culture rooted in dedication, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • University degree in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Applied Math or Applied Sciences, Finance, or other quantitative discipline
  • 2+ years of full-time and/or internship/PEY experience in business analytics, data analytics, data science, strategy, risk management or finance, focused on modeling, analytics, and/or forecasting
  • 2+ years of applied experience in building data pipelines, automating processes and/or leveraging RPA / AI would be a strong asset
  • Advanced skills in data manipulation, and modeling, with expertise in in dbt, Python, SQL, and/or Excel
  • Experience in complex indirect lending / consumer credit risk, collections & recoveries strategy & analytics, or financial modeling would be strong assets
  • Highly advanced pragmatic real-world quantitative thinking, judgment, communication (verbal, visual, and written), with advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Legitimately curious and passionate about finding the “right answer,” with a detail-oriented mindset and a “healthy sense of paranoia” about quality
  • Highly organized and driven, with the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Balanced sense of pride and humility, thriving in a collaborative environment and bringing energy and enthusiasm to team culture.
