As an Individual Contributor, this role supports financial accounting, operational accounting, and reporting activities through the preparation, analysis, and maintenance of financial information and records. The position works collaboratively with business partners to promote accurate and timely financial reporting, effective internal controls, process improvements, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The role also demonstrates the organization's service philosophy through professional interactions and responsive support to internal and external stakeholders.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger Accounting: Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, financial reports, and supporting schedules to support accurate financial reporting. Assists with month-end close activities, researches discrepancies, monitors trends, and communicates outstanding accounting matters to management and business partners.
Operational Accounting Support: Performs accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipt, and other operational accounting activities as assigned. Reviews supporting documentation, assists with billing and payment application processes, and works with internal and external parties to resolve financial inquiries accurately and timely.
Budgeting and Financial Analysis: Assists with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial models, dashboards, policies, and procedures. Analyzes financial data and processes to identify reporting issues, process improvement opportunities, and control considerations, and supports the implementation of practical solutions.
Fixed Assets and Project Accounting: Supports accounting activities related to fixed assets, construction-in-progress projects, prepaid equipment, transfers, retirements, and depreciation. Reviews project documentation and invoices, reconciles subledger balances to the general ledger, tracks project costs, and helps ensure timely capitalization using appropriate accounting classifications.
Administrative and Business Support: Provides analytical and administrative support for department initiatives and routine operations. Serves as backup for other accounting functions as needed and collaborates with management and business partners to meet operational and reporting objectives.
Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Equivalent work experience or certification(s) may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn and effectively utilize accounting, reporting, database, and other business systems.
- Intermediate knowledge and skill proficiency in communication and customer experience.
- Basic knowledge and skill proficiency in analytical thinking, cross-functional collaboration, financial reporting, financial systems, general ledger, standard accounting practices, technology literacy, and variance analysis.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting processes, reconciliations, and internal controls. Ability to analyze information, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail while meeting deadlines. Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
