AltaGas - Sr. HRIS Analyst


The HRIS Analyst will be part of our broader HR Operations team responsible for multiple functional areas of our HRIS (Workday). The role will collaborate across HR and the wider organization to manage and support projects related to system enhancement and maintenance, process improvement, and support critical business cycles throughout the year.
You will:

  • Act as a key member in the building of foundational architecture in Workday, including end-to-end employee lifecycle processes.
  • Conduct functional area impact analysis across their respective modules on changes being introduced to the system, such as impacts to business processes, reports and calculated fields, security, etc., and translate this into workbooks and documentation.
  • Configure Workday business processes (including notifications, condition/validation rules, related documents, etc.) and identify opportunities for enhancement and simplification aligned with the HRIS roadmap.
  • Configure business processes, EIBs, and corresponding elements in Workday and identify opportunities for enhancement and simplification aligned with the HRIS roadmap.
  • Support system upgrades, quarterly releases, testing, validation, and overall performance analysis.
  • Document business requirements in a standardized process and create process documentation after implementing changes in HRIS procedures.
  • Ensure data integrity within Workday and downstream systems through audit processes and analysis.
  • Monitor the HRIS mailbox, promptly respond to internal and external customers, and resolve issues in a timely manner. Identify opportunities for greater automation while keeping in mind a great service to our stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with functional leads and stakeholders (e.g., HR, Technology, Payroll/Finance) on Workday development and enhancement projects, translating business requirements into technical requirements and implementing scalable solutions best for AltaGas's present and future.


You have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5+ Years HRIS experience in Workday; Core HCM, Absence Management, Compensation, Benefits, or Talent modules required
  • Advanced Excel experience working with large data sets utilizing advanced formulas and functionality.
  • Strong understanding of HR functional areas in relation to HRIS, as well as experience systemizing HR processes and procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting end user and systems interface issues and HRIS in a mid- to large-sized organization.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates the qualities of a self-starter who follows through on projects start to finish.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Exceptional time management, project planning, and communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Workday certification in one or more modules
  • Experience with system integrations and data migrations.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Excel, and other data analysis tools
