AltaGas - Senior Analyst, Sustainability
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Analyst, Sustainability to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and leading initiatives related to our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data collection, controls, and reporting processes across both the Midstream and U.S. Utilities businesses. This role will support the Sustainability team with both quantitative and qualitative research, analysis, reporting and communication of AltaGas’ sustainability strategy and initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of our ESG data, which supports our sustainability initiatives and reporting obligations.
You will:
- Develop and implement robust processes for collecting ESG data from various internal and external sources.
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all ESG metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant ESG information.
- Build, develop and maintain data models, reports, dashboards, and performance metrics that support business decisions and disclosure.
- Analyze ESG data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide actionable insights to the business.
- Establish and maintain data governance frameworks and controls to ensure data integrity.
- Develop and implement processes to support ESG data collection, management and reporting, including as new metrics for ESG reporting are identified.
- Continuously improve and streamline ESG data collection, management, and reporting processes.
- Monitor and adapt to changes in ESG regulations and standards to maintain compliance.
- Research and benchmark peer ESG performance and sustainability trends in the Midstream and Utilities industries.
- Research and stay up to date on climate science, regulations, and best practices for climate-related financial disclosures.
- Monitor public policy related to ESG topics, industry trends, and regulatory environments to track, anticipate and mitigate issues that could impact AltaGas' operations or reporting requirements.
- Participate in industry forums and working groups to stay updated on ESG trends and best practices.
- Lead data collection process for AltaGas’ annual sustainability reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of AltaGas’ sustainability related disclosures, including sustainability reports, investor presentations, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the Sustainability team in preparing for emerging mandatory climate and sustainability reporting, such as under IFRS.
- Develop and implement processes to support ESG data collection, management and reporting.
- Continuously improve and streamline ESG data collection, management, and reporting processes.
- Monitor and adapt to changes in ESG regulations and standards to maintain compliance.
- Manage the submission of ESG data and reports to rating agencies.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of information provided to rating agencies.
- Monitor and respond to feedback from rating agencies to improve ESG scores and ratings.
You have:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Environmental Science, Health & Safety, Finance or Business, or a related field.
- Previous related subject matter expertise with a minimum of 8 years of experience in analytical role, preferrable in the energy industry.
- Expertise and prior experience in ESG data management, sustainability reporting, or a related role is an asset.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, standards, and regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of GHG emissions measurement and reporting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills with strong understanding of data governance, controls and documentation
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (i.e., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
- Experience working with Workiva reporting software is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
