AltaGas – Project Manager

AltaGas is at the forefront of responsibly connecting Canadian energy to global markets. With a uniquely advantaged West Coast export platform, we deliver Canadian energy to premium Asian markets through some of the shortest, most efficient shipping routes in the world, creating a meaningful competitive advantage in cost, emissions, and market access.

The Project Manager is accountable for coordinating cross-functional resources, stakeholder engagement, and leadership alignment through AltaGas’ Project Delivery Model (PDM) Gate 3 approval and beyond, ensuring projects are delivered in alignment with AltaGas’ Core Values.

AltaGas is focused on disciplined growth and operational excellence, investing in midstream and export infrastructure that delivers long-term value. In this role, you will drive disciplined planning, maintain executive and stakeholder confidence, and lead complex, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, high-value assets that support long-term business strategy and responsible access to global energy markets.

You will:

  • Lead the delivery of large, complex energy infrastructure projects from post-feasibility through execution and close-out, in alignment with AltaGas’ Project Delivery Model and Core Values
  • Own overall project governance, serving as the single point of accountability for scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety performance
  • Build, lead, and coordinate multi-disciplinary internal teams, contractors, and consultants across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
  • Champion a safety-first culture across all project phases, ensuring contractor compliance and high standards in design, fabrication, and construction
  • Oversee front-end engineering and execution planning, ensuring technical solutions are de-risked, constructible, and aligned with operational requirements
  • Manage commercial and contractual relationships, including procurement strategy, contractor performance, and cost control
  • Proactively manage project risks, changes, and interfaces, providing clear reporting, mitigation strategies, and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Engage and manage a broad range of stakeholders, including operations, regulators, Indigenous and landowner groups, and internal corporate functions

You have:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta and/or British Columbia, with a relevant scope of practice
  • 10+ years of project management experience delivering large-scale oil and/or gas infrastructure projects; midstream experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience progressing projects through front-end development (concept, feasibility, FEED) using a gated delivery model, with additional experience in execution, commissioning, and handover to operations
  • Proven track record of delivering projects across a range of sizes on time and within approved budgets
  • Experience leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and managing complex internal and external stakeholder environments
  • Strong understanding of applicable regulatory, safety, and performance standards in Alberta and British Columbia
  • Proficiency with project controls and scheduling tools (Primavera or equivalent) and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required

Why AltaGas:

This role offers an opportunity to play a meaningful leadership role in the development and execution of coastal energy export projects—among AltaGas’ most strategically significant growth initiatives.
