Job Description

AltaGas - Payroll Administrator (One Year Term) 
The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for accurately processing and managing the company's payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries. This role requires a high level of confidentiality, precision, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
You Will:

  • Assist in the administration of the full payroll cycle from gross to net calculation, through the generation of employee payments, payroll journal creation to final update processing

  • Calculate and prepare payroll worksheets for new hires, terminations, leaves (start and end), adjustments, etc.

  • Ability in identifying, investigating, and resolving discrepancies in timesheet and payroll records

  • Assist in timecard entry, review, understanding labour charge out requirements

  • Understand and work with Employee Self-Service (ESS) and Manager Self-Service (MSS)

  • Daily monitor HR Audit Report and administer changes and updates on employees’ timecards and schedules, as necessary

  • Document and record management of all payroll input and process for audit purposes

  • Work closely with HR and Benefits on employee payment matters

  • Respond to requests for payroll information while at all times adhering to Canadian Privacy Legislation requirements

  • Participate in the management of the payroll email box, responding to business and employee inquiries in a quick and efficient manner

  • Represent the payroll department as a professional

  • Knowledgeable in government and union legislation, regulation changes and react as required

  • Other duties as assigned

You Have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of payroll practice including the full management of payroll cycle

  • Experience operating with in-house payroll systems (i.e. JDE, Workday, Dayforce) as well as demonstrable understanding of payroll system design and capabilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and keen interest utilizing Digital tools to support Payroll operations

  • Team player, ensure cross-education/knowledge

  • Highly analytical and organized

  • Canadian Payroll Association, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent
