AltaGas - Operator Tech 2, RIPET
Reporting to the Coordinator Operations, this position is responsible for safely managing all day-to-day operations of equipment related to propane offloading, processing, and storage, including VLGC loading. This position will be part of the International Longshore & Warehouse Union, Local 523B. ILWU local 523 is located and represented within the Prince Rupert community.
You will:
- Daily operation of RIPET supporting Control Room Operations and/or Outside Operations during a 12-hour day, 4 days on – 4 days off rotation
- Ensure the safe operation of the terminal by maintaining awareness for personal safety and that of co-workers, outside contractors and customers
- Ensure the reliable operation of the terminal by regularly and carefully monitoring equipment conditions and quickly addressing any deviations
- Responsible for the Coordination and safe Operation of Marine Operations and handling of Very Large Gas Carries (VLGC’s)
- Responsible for the coordination and safe operation of the rail offloading facilities and supporting the offloading of rail cars
- Works with Coordinator and Superintendent in the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures and execution of the Training and Progression Program.
- Works closely with Facilities Lead Team and Maintenance to prepare equipment for maintenance; responsible for developing and LOTO of equipment, work planning and work order entry.
- Adherence to all AltaGas Policies, Standards, Procedures and Practices
- Recognize and support risk reduction; supporting Operations and Engineering department to reduce facility risks and improve risk process’.
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team; actively participate in emergency situations when require
- Working knowledge of all emergency response plans related to RIPET operation
- Report and investigate facilities’ safety incidents & support improving the Terminals safety culture through EHS systems and process’
You have:
- 4-10 years of operational experience in a gas plant or Terminal with a refrigeration system. Candidates with other plant experience will be considered
- Has shown leadership abilities as demonstrated by your ability to plan and coordinate work activates in the operation and maintenance of the facility.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Completion of Gas Processing Operations course (Parts A, B, C, D)
- 4th class Power Engineering Certificate of Competence.
- Proficient computers skills with (Excel, Word & Outlook)
- Ability to work effectively and make sound decisions during plant upset conditions
- Must possess the physical capabilities to safely perform all essential aspects and responsibilities of a Terminal Operator position
- Demonstrated safety mindset; ability to actively participate in all safety initiatives
- Ability to participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team
- Strong, professional verbal and written communication skills
- Previous knowledge of LPG railcar operations and / or VLGC operations would be considered an asset
- High Technical experience (DCS/Control Room Operations or other) will be considered an asset
- Experience with Delta V and Maximo would be considered an asset
