AltaGas - Advisor, Indigenous & Community Relations

Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous and Community Relations, the Advisor, Indigenous, and Community Relationship will bring a passion and dedication for relationship building, communication, and delivering social value to support the success of AltaGas' strategic and creative partnership initiatives. The successful Advisor will collaborate across multiple company departments to advance our team's commitment to drive operational excellence, export competitive advantage, social responsibility, and brand recognition.
 

You Will:

  • Build and sustain positive and productive working relationships with First Nations, municipal governments in Prince Rupert, Port Edward and regional corridor communities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the company's leadership team, providing guidance on matters related to Indigenous and community relations

  • Support the Manager, Indigenous and Community Relations in identifying and assessing potential opportunities and risks for AltaGas

  • Recommend and support strategic regional marketing and communication opportunities to build awareness of AltaGas’ brand, partnerships, and investments

  • Attend meetings and conferences to stay abreast of local and regional issues and provide input and analysis of risks and opportunities related to AltaGas’ operations and growth objectives

  • Represent AltaGas as a company ambassador at designated events

  • Build and maintain a visible and meaningful presence for AltaGas within key communities

  • Provide additional support to help achieve the broader goals of the External Affairs team as required

  • Ensure AltaGas delivers upon Indigenous contractual agreements with Nations in Northwest British Columbia

  • Support meaningful long-term relationship building, engagement and learning

  • Lead key internal and external support for the execution of the Midstream Indigenous Workforce Program

  • Assist the development and execution of the Operators Training Program

  • Coordinate AltaGas participation in Career Fairs in Prince Rupert and First Nations communities

  • Support summer student(s) and employee volunteers in community investment and engagement activities

  • Support the development of new Indigenous and community training initiatives

  • Lead the coordination of AltaGas’ rail safety program along logistics corridors

  • Identify strategic opportunities to strengthen relationships and build partnerships over time with community leaders, PRPA, Chambers of Commerce, Indigenous Groups, industry, and other community members with an interest in AltaGas’ operations and future growth

  • Coordinate logistics related to hosting tours, meetings and events of wide range of stakeholders

  • Coordinate logistics related to AltaGas participating in Community Events such as Chamber events, Seafest & Winterfest, etc.

  • Recommend and execute community investment opportunities

  • Track and report of community investment budget and spend

  • Complete administrative related to the payment of donations

  • Develop recognition plan to develop stories of impact to share across enterprise

  • Monitor and report on key metrics and indicators for ESG

  • Perform some miscellaneous office management related duties in storefront office in Prince Rupert

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2+ Years of direct or related progressive experience

  • Knowledge of the energy industry with a focus on natural gas, NGLs and transportation sectors

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools (PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI, Word, Excel, Outlook, Word)

Hourly Pay Rate: $38-$44
