AltaGas - Advisor, EHS

Work closely with operations to support planning for critical activities such as confined space entry, energy isolation, and handling dangerous materials
Provide hands‑on technical EHS support for rail and truck loading operations at our Fort Saskatchewan site
Partner with and maintain strong communication channels with regulatory bodies, including Transport Canada and other provincial and federal agencies
Coach, mentor, and guide workers and contractors daily to reinforce safe behaviors and operational discipline
Deliver training sessions, orientations, and EHS program education for new and existing personnel
Support and enhance the Midstream Operating Management System (OMS), with focus on EHS program implementation and improvement
Manage and monitor the Emergency Response Program, including drills, exercises, and participation on the site Incident Management Team
Lead and support incident investigations using TapRooT or similar methodologies; own the Incident Management Process for the site
Conduct site inspections, participate in safety meetings, and support the Joint Worksite Health & Safety Committee (JWHSC)
Maintain safety equipment and ensure EHS documentation—policies, procedures, permits—is accurate and up to date
Collaborate with Midstream environmental staff to ensure ongoing environmental compliance
Champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance site safety culture, system efficiency, and operational execution
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of EHS experience, ideally in oil & gas, rail, transloading, or related industrial settings
NCSO, CRSP, or a relevant post‑secondary credential
Proven ability to influence and build credibility without direct authority
Knowledge of provincial and federal safety regulations, including Transport Canada
Experience supporting safety in field‑based operations, with a willingness to be present and hands‑on at the site
Expertise in EHS management systems; experience with TapRooT or similar root‑cause tools is an asset
A self‑starter mindset - organized, proactive, and confident working independently with minimal oversight
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to partner effectively across teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
