We are Blue Cube Draslovka

At Blue Cube, we fuse proven expertise with bold innovation to create advanced sensor technology for the mining industry. As part of Draslovka — a global leader in sustainable chemical technologies — we deliver real-time measurement solutions that are transforming how minerals are processed worldwide.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and creative R&D Algorithm Engineer to join our agile R&D team. In this hands-on technical role, you will help drive the next generation of sensing technology by developing, implementing, and refining advanced algorithms and data-driven models. Your work will directly impact the intelligence and performance of our real-time mineral analyzers, enabling smarter, safer, and more efficient mining operations.
You will collaborate closely with our Senior R&D Engineer and a cross-functional team to solve challenging technical problems, design and execute experiments, and turn complex sensor data into actionable insights. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of theory and practice — someone who can use mathematics, statistics, and signal processing to create real-world impact in a rapidly developing field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Algorithm Development
  • Design, implement, and deliver high-quality algorithms and models leveraging data from spectrometry and other optical sensors.
  • Mathematical and Statistical Expertise
  • Apply advanced techniques such as multivariate analysis, optimization, and signal processing to enhance system performance and accuracy.
  • Software Development
  • Write robust, efficient Python code and participate in the development of software solutions that power our advanced analysers.
  • Experiment Planning and Execution
  • Plan, manage, and execute experiments and data collection drives—sometimes partnering with customers or collaborators across the globe.
  • Technical Problem-Solving
  • Conduct root-cause analyses on challenging technical issues; define and systematically test hypotheses to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration
  • Work with hardware engineers, chemists, and other specialists to develop and refine integrated product solutions.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain clear, thorough documentation of algorithms, processes, experiments, and results to support future development and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills & Attributes

  • Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering (Electronic, Physics, Chemical), or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in algorithm development, digital signal processing, or data science roles, ideally with real-world product or sensor data.
  • Advanced mathematical and statistical expertise, including linear algebra, multivariate analysis, optimization, and digital signal processing.
  • Proficient Python coder; able to develop scalable, production-level code.
  • Comfortable with Linux for development, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with sensor technology, analytical instrumentation, or optical measurement systems is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with calibration, quality control, and beta product deployment is an asset.
  • Analytical and creative problem-solver; able to design and deliver innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to synthesize and present technical findings clearly for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative, independent, and proactive, with a strong track record of contributing to multidisciplinary teams and managing your own work.
  • Exposure to agile development environments is a plus.
  • Passion for sustainability, scientific innovation, and making a real-world impact.
  • Proficient in English; additional languages are an asset.
