Job Duties and Responsibilities
EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Operations Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division, supporting our Aero business unit. You will be a member of our technical operations team, which is primarily focused on monitoring aircraft performance and resolving faults that impact the health of the Hughes in-flight connectivity system. As part of this team, you will play a critical role in supporting our frontline maintenance staff, helping them find solutions to complex system faults. This role will be central to several functional groups, providing visibility into various parts of the operation. In this unique position, you will have the ability influence the direction of our operation, optimizing automation, improving reliability, and enhancing our tools. This position will be located at our office in Lisle, IL or Germantown, MD.
Key Responsibilities:

• Work on-call, which can include nights, weekends, and holidays, to serve as an escalation point for our 24/7 tier 1 technical support team.
• Support and resolve aircraft connectivity issues utilizing a holistic understanding of the system, including knowledge of hardware, software, and network requirements.
• Utilize various data sources, such as performance metrics, tickets, and system logs to identify systemic failure trends.
• Track hardware and software failures, and work closely with the reliability team to implement long-term solutions.
• Define automation requirements to optimize tools and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
• Act as a bridge between engineering, development, and program management to foster collaboration and alignment between critical departments.

Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in aviation, computer science, electrical engineering, or similar field, or a combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of technical operations experience, ideally from an aviation-centric or satellite communications provider.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Avionics troubleshooting experience.
• Aviation hardware and software experience related to system installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Satellite communications systems experience (GEO, MEO, LEO) as a service provider.
• Experience in network design, monitoring, and operations.
• Experience conducting trend analysis to support reliability.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $79,000.00/Year - $99,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
