This is your opportunity to join a fast-moving company that works on interesting and unique projects to support Australia’s Defence mission and contribute to the critical outcomes of the Australian Defence Force.
This exciting and challenging role involves supporting the ADF maintain safe and secure Air Weapons Ranges that are used to the train the next generation air crew. The Ranges are utilised to support weapons delivery training for air combat activities as well as the conduct of Defence Test and Evaluation trials of new capabilities.
This is achieved by designing and maintaining the land based enabling systems such as data networks, video surveillance and communication systems across five test and training Ranges in the country. There are also opportunities to contribute to the Targets environment used on Ranges.
The Systems Engineer will constantly explore new and alternative ways to solve technology challenges seeking out secure, cost effective, usable and supportable technology that provides a competitive advantage.
Travel may be required within Australia to fulfil the requirements of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, implement and maintain technical solutions to improve and establish new capabilities
- Contribute to a risk-based approach, measure and implement designs against company technology standards, architecture principles, regulatory, and security policies
- Contribute to analysis and assessment of customer requirements and provides recommendations to ensure they are mature and actionable by the project team.
- Works with relevant stakeholders to update and implement System Recovery and System Security Plans for new systems and technologies.
- Maintain currency of skills and knowledge relating to existing technologies and is an active contributor in exploring new technologies.
- Support the development of customer proposals, analysing the proposed design(s) and recommending changes to optimise the solution.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps within the areas of responsibilities.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Requires a University Degree in Engineering and a minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Ability to manage small projects or processes within area of responsibility.
- ADF experience and knowledge of Defence systems, standards and processes an advantage.
- Skilled in system hardening, network, communications, and security technologies.
- Skilled in, systems safety, vulnerability management, risk assessment, and remediation.
- Skilled in explaining complex designs both written and orally to technical and non-technical in order to convey a solution and call to action.
- Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-suitability
