Scope of Position
The Air & Ocean Supervisor supports the Transportation Manager in leading the department to achieving flawless operational execution, developing a strong and reliable team infrastructure, technical expertise, knowledgeable and promotable personnel while constantly driving efficiency, profitability and growth supporting our Vision and Mission statement, making our promise real to all our employees and customers.
Key Deliverables
- Support the Department Manager in proactively monitoring the following key metrics to achieve the expected results:
- Employee Satisfaction
- Timely Employee Performance Evaluations (Annually)
- Timely Check-ins with direct reports (Quarterly)
- Operation Effectiveness
- Product Air & Ocean Import OPA Audit Result – Perform consistently at the highest level.
- Accurate RDL Entry – Aligned FRD & RDL with the service level per customer instructions.
- Track and Trace – Follow up with origins to ensure OTP.
- Shipments per Person - Improve SPP ratio by 10% each year.

Administration and Personnel Management
- Follow the 10 Critical Success Factor and ‘What’s expected of a Supervisor’ guidelines.
- Ensure that company controls, policies, procedures, processes, are understood and applied.
- Supervise team capacity ensuring that the team is structured and organized; consider expected growth and volume spikes.
- Ensure employees have a PDP as per their skills and expertise. Develop your number 2. Assist the manager in identifying talent.
- Engage with team members, conduct daily huddles to promote teamwork and cohesiveness.
- Hold regular individual check-ins for coaching and mentoring; provide and seek feedback.
- Ensure all needs and tools required are available for the team to be successful.
- Ensure coverage of operations with staff who have the appropriate certifications
- Oversee proper onboarding of new staff and continuous training of all team members.
- Team members to complete 52-hour training per year (4.33 per month) and required training timely.
- Support all Corridor TBP Employee Satisfaction initiatives.
- Escalate issues to Operations Manager or Air & Ocean Manager as needed.
Operations & Compliance
•Monitor and continuously improve service execution according to operational milestones:
- Performance Management: Support oversight, including self-assessments, daily, weekly and monthly performance monitoring to resolved (root cause) proactively.
- Exception Management: review all exceptions to drive efficiency internally (controlled) and through interacting with our customers (uncontrolled).
- Identify areas to improve efficiency to offer customers better cycle times, service while improving margins.
- In collaboration with Operations Manager, increase productivity by contributing to the implementation and optimization of systems and tools with the goal to increase SPP.
- Maintain SOPs updated for all customers and make certain that client specific instructions are understood at the desk level to properly process shipments and invoices.
- Ensure proper use of all Expeditor systems and tools, especially CFIT, Edoc, CRM.
- Make certain that files are logged correctly and timely with proper codes, trace types and events.
- Ensure that all correspondence within business unit is handled timely and professionally.
- Maintain highest compliance levels for all applicable Air & Ocean Imports requirements.
- Monitor and improve key District Excellence metrics for your team accounts.
- Escalate issues to Transportation Manager timely when needed.
Financial Excellence:
- Ensure compliance of all financial related policies, including our credit policy.
- Supervise to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Supervise to ensure that billing packages are timely sent (IVM).
- Review all billed not paid and paid not billed items for proper handling and closing
- Expense Control – Monitor capacity to avoid and control Over Time.
- Keep track of AR status and support with resolution, as necessary.
Customers and Business Development:
- Maintain and develop relationships and business opportunities with existing customers in collaboration with account management team.
- Work with T&I and account management to make certain that customer requirements are properly documented (SOPs), understood and implemented for proper processing and invoicing by the team.
- Work with Trade Compliance manager to understand trend discrepancy root causes and implement necessary corrective actions.
Security, Health and Safety:
- Inform immediately the Branch’s Health and Safety representative any unsafe condition that could put employees at risk in the workplace as well as any incident or accident.
To be the most effective in this position we are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the logistic field or International Transportation, preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in leading teams, preferred.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, communicate clearly. Ability to communicate at all levels written and oral communication and presentations.
- Exhibit a leadership style that empowers, coaches, mentors, and fosters a cohesive team environment always prioritizing employee satisfaction.
