Job Title: AI/ML Software Engineering Intern, Search - Summer 2025

Censys ingests millions of certificates and billions of network handshakes daily and exposes this data to customers to help them secure their organization by understanding their network attack surface. We’re excited to launch our 2025 Summer Internship search and are looking for our next AI/ML-focused Software Engineering Intern to join our Collections, Search, and Attribution (CSA) team. 

We’re looking for driven, curious engineers eager to take on real challenges and make an impact from day one. At Censys, we want interns who take initiative, thrive in fast-moving environments and are excited about cybersecurity. As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll work on real-world projects that contribute directly to our product and roadmap. This is a unique opportunity to build, learn, and innovate alongside experienced engineers in a cutting-edge cybersecurity company. With AI/ML as the core focus of our internship program this year, you’ll work on projects that explore machine learning, automation, and generative AI to improve searching through a huge amount of internet telemetry (port scans, certificates, DNS, etc). There may be additional opportunities to work on projects like Attribution, where we use novel approaches to find internet assets that belong to customers.

Here's a glimpse into some of the types of things you’ll work on this summer:

• Improve search and remediation experiences by integrating AI-driven suggestions and contextual understanding.
• Anomaly detection to help find interesting events or assets that should be prioritized for review by the customer. 
• Leverage AI for intelligent recommendations, such as surfacing relevant queries within datasets.
• Pitch and explore your own AI-driven ideas—we encourage innovation!

Note on Remote: This position must be able to work in-person at our headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A monthly housing stipend will be offered for anyone non-local to Ann Arbor.

Our target hourly pay rate for this role is $35 / hour USD.
