Job DescriptionAbbVie is seeking an AI Support Engineer to join our team in a role dedicated to supporting the Regulatory Affairs organization through the identification and evaluation of emerging technology solutions, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. This position partners closely with Regulatory Affairs stakeholders, business process owners, and cross-functional technology teams to assess current workflows, explore opportunities for responsible AI integration, and support the delivery of solutions that enhance efficiency, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
This is an associate-level role designed for an early-career professional who is eager to learn, contribute meaningfully to technology initiatives, and grow within a highly collaborative, mission-driven environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate intellectual curiosity, a strong foundation in technology concepts, and a commitment to the ethical and responsible use of AI in a regulated industry.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Regulatory Affairs stakeholders to develop a working understanding of business processes, workflows, and pain points; support the identification of opportunities where AI and emerging technologies may add measurable value.
- Assist in the evaluation and assessment of AI tools, platforms, and capabilities relevant to the Regulatory Affairs function, contributing to the documentation of findings and recommendations for review by senior team members.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to support the planning, coordination, and execution of pilots, proofs of concept (POCs), and technology evaluations in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Contribute to the documentation of business requirements, user stories, and process maps that help translate regulatory needs and stakeholder goals into clearly articulated technology solutions.
- Support process improvement initiatives by gathering data, conducting research, and participating in workshops or working sessions focused on workflow analysis and optimization.
- Assist in ensuring that AI use cases are evaluated through the lens of responsible, ethical, and compliant technology practices, consistent with AbbVie's standards and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Engage in knowledge sharing and learning opportunities across the technology and Regulatory Affairs organizations to build domain expertise and technical acumen.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of project activities, meeting notes, action items, and status updates in support of team deliverables.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the broader technology team and organizational objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years' experience OR Master's Degree plus 0 years' experience
- Foundational understanding of technology concepts, including software applications, data management, or systems analysis.
- Demonstrated exposure to process improvement methodologies or participation in technology-related projects in an academic, internship, or professional setting.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence, machine learning, or automation concepts, including awareness of common use cases and general principles of responsible AI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in enterprise collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams) and standard business productivity applications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a structured team environment.
- Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
Preferred:
- Prior experience or coursework related to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated industry environments.
- Exposure to Regulatory Affairs processes, regulatory submissions, or document management systems within a life sciences context.
- Familiarity with AI/ML platforms, low-code/no-code tools, or enterprise technology evaluation frameworks.
- Experience supporting business analysis activities, including requirements gathering, stakeholder interviews, or process documentation.
- Knowledge of data privacy considerations, ethical AI principles, or technology governance frameworks.
- Experience participating in agile, scrum, or other iterative project delivery methodologies.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
