We are seeking an AI Scientist to join our growing AI team. This role is an incredible opportunity to shape the future of our AI capabilities and directly impact how users engage with our platform. We’re looking for someone with a strong background in applied machine learning who thrives in ambiguous problem spaces, enjoys working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and is passionate about bringing AI models into production to drive user features.

Grata is a hybrid company, with team members collaborating in our NYC office (near Bryant Park) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
What You'll Do:
- Design and develop AI solutions that power user-facing features, with a focus on ranking and relevance problems.
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous challenges.
- Build robust evaluation frameworks that ensure our AI models meet business and user expectations.
- Clearly communicate modeling decisions, performance metrics, and trade-offs to engineering, product, and business teams.
- Work closely with product engineering to bring models into production, ensuring seamless integration and monitoring.
- Leverage Grata’s proprietary company data to build AI systems that deliver a unique competitive advantage.
What We're Looking For:
- Applied Machine Learning / Data Science: You have hands-on experience developing, evaluating, and deploying ML models that deliver business value.
- Evaluation Schemes: You know how to build and interpret offline and online evaluation frameworks, including metrics like precision, recall, AUC, NDCG, etc.
- Communication: You excel at explaining modeling choices, results, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Product Development: Experience designing and developing AI solutions that directly impact user-facing features.
- Stakeholder Engagement: You’ve partnered with product and business teams to bring structure and direction to complex, open-ended problems.
- Engineering Collaboration: You’ve worked closely with engineering teams to ensure that models transition smoothly from research to production.
- Data: Experience working with company data and related entity resolution, knowledge graph, or business intelligence problems.
- Ranking/Elastic: Familiarity with ranking problems and/or Elasticsearch is a strong plus.
- Large Language Models: Familiarity with building solutions using LLMs is a strong plus.

Grata is committed to providing competitive cash compensation and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below.

For candidates based in New York City, the total expected compensation is $160,00 to $200,000. There is also an annual bonus plan of 5-10% of base salary, depending on experience.
