Job Summary

The Standard Insurance Company is seeking a skilled and driven AI Product Owner to join our Artificial Intelligence Strategy & Development team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI by leading the ideation, development, and implementation of strategically prioritized Applied AI products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to invent, build, and scale innovative AI solutions designed to transform our core operations.

As an AI Product Owner, you will play a critical role in defining and delivering products & solutions that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with business partners - particularly in underwriting and claims - to run a discovery, gather requirements, manage stakeholder expectations, and translate business needs into clear, actionable product backlog items. You’ll ensure these items are testable ahead of sprint execution, and work hand-in-hand with development teams to ensure alignment and readiness for demos. You will also be responsible for product roadmaps and release plans, ensuring timely delivery while mitigating risks associated with product development. A strong understanding of the SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies is essential.

Your understanding of AI concepts will be valuable as these solutions will integrate a variety of computational methods including; machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, optimization, robotic process automation, computer vision, and logical rule sets - all supported by a modern AI/ML DevOps infrastructure. Direct AI development experience will be advantageous due to the complex nature of our AI product release cycles.

This position partners with Change Management Organization to ensure the following:

• Stakeholder impact assessments are completed, and change/communication plans are executed as the program evolves for the larger organization.

• Establish advocacy groups and other constructs that help create transparency to the work and serve as a communication vehicle back to their organizations.

• Ensures impacts to people, process and technology are known and there is an organizational change plan to address.

• Works with change and communications representatives to provide ongoing updates/transparency to the work, successes, and challenges.

Skills and Background You'll Need 

EDUCATION: A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of professional technology experience & business analysis experience, with prior experience in team-oriented roles that require collaboration with others. An understanding of high-level requirements for cloud-based software applications, traditional AI/ML modeling techniques, and Generative AI systems is preferred.

  • Proven success in the design & delivery of forward leaning technical products / solutions that combine various AI methods/tools (ML, DL, Optimization, RPA, OCR, GenAI, classification, etc.) is highly preferred. AI development experience for an enterprise-level product is preferred.
  • Agile/Scrum experience is required, with understanding of the SDLC as preferred.
  • Experience working in Underwriting or Claims is preferred. Experience in financial or insurance industry is preferred.
  • Ability to translate technical/data science/business perspectives for a non-technical audience and managing projects at all different scales is required.
  • Exemplifies superior customer focus, stakeholder management, and strong communication skills. Ability to communicate product plans and progress to stakeholders, IT leaders, customers, and internal teams.
  • Top candidates will be comfortable in MS Excel, documenting thoroughly and listening diligently to capture and translate complex feedback into clear product direction. Proficiency in the following tools is preferred: Jira, Miro, Databricks, and PowerPoint.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$107,250.00 - $156,750.00
