Where you will work: This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The contributions you will make: AI is rapidly changing what is possible in financial services and we're interested in more than simply adopting new technology. We want to discover where emerging capabilities such as agentic AI can meaningfully improve the experiences of our clients and team members.
As an AI Product Manager within Compeer's Product Enablement team, you'll help us explore that opportunity. You'll identify meaningful problems and jobs-to-be-done, build and prioritize a portfolio of opportunities, and design small, intentional experiments that help us learn quickly. You'll balance discovery with delivery, advancing promising ideas while helping us recognize quickly when an idea isn't worth pursuing.
This isn't a role where you'll be handed a list of AI features to build. You'll help determine where AI should and shouldn't be used. You'll work across product, technology, data, business, risk and other partners to turn promising ideas into safe, valuable experiences while helping Compeer build the practices needed to use AI responsibly and effectively.
A typical day:
- Build and continuously refine a Now / Next / Later portfolio of AI-enabled opportunities grounded in client and business needs.
- Translate problems and jobs-to-be-done into hypotheses that can be discovered, tested and validated.
- Take small bites to learn, designing experiments that reduce uncertainty before significant investment is made.
- Balance discovery and delivery so we're continuously learning while advancing the opportunities with the strongest evidence.
- Define what success looks like and use qualitative and quantitative evidence to determine whether to advance, adapt or stop an idea.
- Explore appropriate levels of AI autonomy, including where humans should remain in the loop and where additional controls are needed.
- Partner closely with technology, data, security, risk, business teams and other product leaders to evaluate feasibility, value and responsible implementation.
- Turn learning into reusable practices, patterns and guidance that help other teams at Compeer confidently explore AI-enabled opportunities.
- Stay curious about emerging AI capabilities while remaining grounded in a simple question: Does this create meaningful value for our clients or team members?
The skills and experience we prefer you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- 3+ years of product management experience.
- Ability to operate effectively in situations where the answer is not yet clear or defined.
- Approach challenges by focusing on the problem itself before considering specific technologies.
- Skilled at transforming ambiguity into actionable hypotheses, experiments, and insights.
- Strong Agile and Lean product instincts, with a preference for iterative, evidence-based progress over large, speculative initiatives.
- Capable of building and managing an opportunity backlog, focusing on business value rather than a traditional feature backlog.
- Comfortable making data-driven decisions, including knowing when to test ideas and when evidence suggests abandoning a pursuit.
- Proficient at translating requirements and perspectives between clients, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
- Understanding, or a strong willingness to learn, the unique aspects of AI products, including data management, evaluation, reliability, security, human oversight, and responsible use.
- A collaborative influencer who can drive organizational learning and change without relying on formal authority.
How we will take care of you:
Our job titles may span more than one career level (associate, senior, principal, etc.). The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.
