About Citi

Citi, the leading global bank, has approximately 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions. Citi provides consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services, and wealth management. Our core activities are safeguarding assets, lending money, making payments and accessing the capital markets on behalf of our clients.

Role Overview

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on AI Product Lead to join our Banking Technology group. This is a senior-level, strategic role designed for a leader who embodies a product mindset, with deep technical expertise, thriving at the intersection of product management, artificial intelligence, and software engineering. This role specifically focuses on Capital Markets tooling, where these tools are critical for our Capital Markets professionals to drive Debt and Equity Capital Markets Deal Execution, Optimize Financing workflows, Leverage Capital Markets AI agents, Identify New Deal Opportunities, and Service their clients more effectively and efficiently. You will be responsible for shaping the future of our financial products by identifying high-impact opportunities for AI within this domain and leading the end-to-end lifecycle from concept to scaled production.

This is not a traditional development role. We are looking for a product-minded technologist who can bridge the gap between complex business challenges faced by Capital Markets professionals and cutting-edge AI solutions for their tooling needs. You will be heavier on the "product" side—defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap for these critical tools—while maintaining the deep technical expertise to guide a cross-functional team in building and shipping world-class, AI-powered applications that directly enhance our professionals' capabilities in deal execution, financing, and client servicing within Capital Markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the Vision: Own the product strategy for AI initiatives within Capital Markets tooling. Analyze market trends, internal business processes, and user pain points of our Capital Markets professionals to identify and champion new opportunities for AI-driven innovation that directly impacts ECM deal execution, optimizes financing workflows, and enhances the utility of Capital Markets AI agents.
  • Drive the Roadmap: Translate the product vision into a clear, actionable roadmap for Capital Markets AI tooling. Develop and prioritize features, epics, and user stories to guide the engineering team in delivering high-value solutions that empower Capital Markets professionals.
  • Lead from the Front: Act as the key technical and product leader for a dedicated team of engineers focused on Capital Markets solutions. Mentor team members, establish modern engineering best practices, and foster a culture of excellence and rapid iteration.
  • Bridge Business and Tech: Serve as the primary liaison between Capital Markets business stakeholders, end-users, and the development team. Articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and translate business requirements from the Capital Markets domain into robust technical designs that facilitate business growth and client service.
  • Hands-On Prototyping and Architecture: Be prepared to get hands-on with building proofs-of-concept and initial prototypes to validate ideas quickly, particularly for novel AI applications in Capital Markets tooling.
  • Champion and Influence: Influence and negotiate with senior leadership within Banking Technology and Capital Markets to secure buy-in and resources for your product vision. Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes effectively across all levels of the organization, highlighting the strategic importance of enhanced Capital Markets tooling for business expansion and client satisfaction.
  • Manage Risk and Compliance: Uphold the firm's commitment to risk management and compliance. Ensure that all product decisions and technical implementations for Capital Markets tooling adhere to the highest standards of security, ethics, and regulatory requirements, safeguarding the firm and its clients.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in technology, with a proven track record of shipping products from concept to launch in a product-centric or entrepreneurial role.
  • Product & Engineering Hybrid: Demonstrated experience in a role that blends product management (defining the "what" and "why") with software engineering (defining the "how"). This role requires a strong product mindset, with deep technical expertise.
  • AI/ML Expertise: Deep subject matter expertise in applying modern AI/ML techniques to solve real-world business problems. Experience with NLP, predictive modeling, or generative AI is highly desirable, especially in the context of Capital Markets.
  • Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of core banking, financial technology, and critically, a deep understanding of Capital Markets processes, including ECM deal execution, financing workflows, and the application of AI agents to drive business growth, opportunity identification, and client servicing within this sector.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment. Experience with project management and influencing without direct authority.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive decisions among senior leaders and diverse stakeholders, including Capital Markets professionals and their leadership.
  • Technical Acumen: While this is a product-heavy role, you should have a strong foundation in software engineering principles and be comfortable discussing architecture and code with your team.
