Lead the build: Architect Saber's AI platform from the ground up and build the engineering team that brings it to life.
We’ve been recognized by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group as one of America’s Most Admired Workplaces for 2026! As an employee recently said, “I feel I have a lot of support. I feel like part of the team.”
Position Summary:
The Platform Lead has technical responsibility for the Company's AI, internal applications, and automations, built as an agentic harness over a governed data foundation. The role is responsible for their architecture, security, and infrastructure, makes key architecture decisions, leads AI governance, and sets the engineering standards the team works to. The role demands breadth across distributed systems, cloud data architecture, agentic AI, security, and application engineering, with deep expertise in several of these areas. The primary duties of this position involve the performance of work requiring advanced knowledge in a field of science/learning, which require the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Lead, mentor, and set technical direction for the platform team through hiring, code and design reviews, and clear standards.
- Architecture: Design the platform’s distributed systems and technology stack to support AI development.
- Data platform: Own the lakehouse and warehouse architecture, data pipelines (dbt, Data Factory, Fivetran or similar).
- Semantic layer and knowledge graph: Design governed metrics, ontologies, and a model of core business entities that people and AI agents can both query.
- Applied AI: Build and improve LLM applications, including long-running agents, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, and evaluations, using frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.
- MCP and automation: Design, secure, and govern MCP servers that connect agents and RPA bots to internal systems, and integrate agents with automation platforms such as UiPath using human approvals and audit trails.
- Cloud infrastructure: Build and run the production platform on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud using infrastructure as code (Terraform or Bicep), CI/CD, containers, and monitoring which security and safeguards built in.
Education/Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field of science/learning, or advanced knowledge of same through ten (10) or more years of demonstrated equivalent engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel.
Experience:
- Ten (10) or more years of professional software and data engineering experience, including three (3) or more years operating at a staff, principal, or lead level with formal responsibility for architecture and for leading engineering teams.
- Demonstrated record of being responsible for one (1) or more production systems end to end, from architecture through deployment, operation, and ongoing evolution, at meaningful scale.
- Hands-on experience architecting and operating a cloud data platform (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks) in production, including responsibility for cost and performance. Experience with more than one (1) such platform, or formal experience evaluating and selecting between platforms, is strongly preferred, as this role leads the platform-selection decision.
- Production experience building applications backed by large language models (e.g., Claude, Codex), including retrieval, tool use, and evaluation.
- Experience designing systems that handle sensitive or regulated data, with direct responsibility for the security and access-control model. Healthcare (HIPAA) experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing and mentoring engineers, including hiring, performance management, and building a high-performing team.
