Role Description

• Engineer is responsible for managing or performing work across multiple areas of the bank's overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration
• You’ll be a seasoned software engineer with 8+ years of experience, joining a team of enthusiastic individuals striving to innovate, design, and build solutions that meet comprehensive requirements. You’ll be familiar with SDLC and Agile practices, able to translate requirements into technical solutions while communicating effectively both within and outside your team. You’ll have strong development skills, be familiar with IDEs and development toolsets, and contribute through code reviews to identify inaccuracies efficiently. Additionally, you’ll mentor team members, help others build solutions, and serve as a role model with potential exposure to team leadership.

Your key responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Lead hands‑on design, development, and deployment of scalable microservices and backend systems with Python as the core language, and Java as a supporting technology where required.
• Design and build scalable AI‑enabled systems with robust orchestration logic, including error handling, retries, fallbacks, and human‑in‑the‑loop workflows.
• Implement retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) pipelines to support semantic search and contextual retrieval from unstructured enterprise documents.
• Build reliable AI workflows using tool integrations and well‑engineered system prompts, optimized for accuracy, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and DevOps teams to deliver high‑quality, production‑ready solutions.
• Promote engineering best practices through code reviews, adherence to standards, and mentoring of junior team members.
• Translate functional and non‑functional requirements into technical designs, delivery plans, and realistic timelines.
• Produce clear documentation covering system designs, architectural decisions, and operational runbooks.

Your skills and experience

Must Have

• Strong proficiency in Python, including core language features, packaging, testing, asynchronous programming, and type hints.
• Solid experience in Java development, with working knowledge of Spring Boot and RESTful API design.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining Python‑based components, scripts, or batch processes.
• Practical experience designing and delivering LLM‑powered applications, from prototype to production.
• Deep understanding of LLM concepts including tokenization, context windows, temperature, top‑p, and prompt roles.
• Experience with prompt engineering techniques and/or retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG).
• Familiarity with vector databases for semantic retrieval use cases.
• Strong coding discipline with the ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Experience designing high‑load, distributed, and fault‑tolerant systems.
• Working knowledge of Linux, containers, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle, GitHub Actions).
• Understanding of security concepts including authentication, authorization, OAuth2, and API security.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks and automated testing practices.
• Proficiency with SQL, basic data modeling, and JSON‑based APIs (Swagger/OpenAPI)

Desirable

• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and organization skills. Team player, with strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate at all levels. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of Agile Practices
