This role will lead and scale Chamberlain Group's growing team of applied AI and full-stack engineers. This role is central to CG's AI and Innovation agenda, focused on delivering end-to-end, production-grade solutions involving video intelligence, generative AI, and chatbot interfaces. This role will help shape the future of smart access experiences through the development of advanced search, summarization, captioning, and contextual insight features across our residential and commercial products.

This role will manage a high-performing team currently consisting of three engineers and grow it to 10+.This role will provide technical direction, drive agile execution, and collaborate with product, UX, and platform teams to deliver impactful AI-powered capabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of AI features within Chamberlain products such as: Video-based search using LLMs, Chatbot interfaces for search and AI-generated insight, backend pipelines and APIs for AI feature delivery.
  • Ensure end-to-end delivery across frontend, backend, and ML components, and drive code quality, scalability, and maintainability best practices.
  • Work closely with Product, UX, Cloud Platform, and Security teams to align on priorities and architecture.
  • Act as the technical voice in roadmap discussions and sprint planning.
  • Define engineering workflows, coding standards, and agile practices.
  • Track and improve delivery velocity, quality metrics, and GenAI tool adoption.
  • Own engineering metrics and continuous improvement
  • Act as Team Lead to assigned programs, building a team of cross-functional members, conducting meeting, establishing deliverables and accountability, communicating progress and results to all interested parties, and ensuring that all critical elements of the program, from design to commercialization, are on target to meet objectives
  • Provide leadership on measures, impact assessment, removal of roadblocks, conflicts, and change of scope decisions
  • Prepare and deliver executive level communication and/or presentations regarding project reviews, assessments, New Product Reviews, etc. to varying audiences
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group’s reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a team leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of shipping ML/AI-enabled products in production environments.
  • Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, or video intelligence systems is a strong plus.
  • Prior experience managing or contributing to full-stack development projects (frontend, backend, ML systems).
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time domestically and internationally

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of modern ML/AI concepts, including:
  • LLMs, embeddings, vector search, transformers
  • RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), captioning, summarization
  • Chatbot frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Rasa, custom pipelines)
  • Proficiency with modern backend technologies (Python, Node.js, REST/gRPC APIs).
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React/TypeScript) is a plus.
  • Cloud-native development experience (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Experience working with MLOps and model deployment pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and people leadership skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within an established company

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MBA, or related field
  • Experience in IoT, software services, video, and AI

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with consumer electronics, smart home companies will be beneficial

The pay range/rate of pay for this position is $97,700.00 - $184,175.00; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.  In addition to base pay, also offered is a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).  This position is eligible for participation in a short-term incentive plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
