Title: AI Engineer
Position Overview:
Johnson Controls is seeking a mid-level AI Engineer to design and build agentic solutions, integrations, and data/CI pipelines that accelerate delivery across the MWPC AI team. You will craft production-grade agents, connect them to enterprise systems, and operationalize workflows from discovery to scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build Agentic Solutions: Design, implement, and harden AI agents (retrieval, planning, tool-use) for Marketing, Web, Portals, and Commerce use cases.
- Systems Integrations: Develop integrations with enterprise APIs, data sources, and services (API Management, Sitecore, content ops, analytics) with robust auth and observability.
- Pipelines & CI/CD: Create pipelines for prompts, knowledge assets, and model components; versioning, testing (unit/e2e), and CI/CD into Azure AI Foundry/Studio.
- Quality & Safety: Implement evaluation harnesses, telemetry, and safety checks; contribute to automated QA using GitHub Copilot + Playwright.
- Ways of Working: Collaborate in time-boxed pods with tower SMEs; contribute to discovery spikes, pilots, and scaling plans following Kanban flow.
- Documentation & Enablement: Document patterns and publish quick-starts and code samples to the toolbox; support upskilling of 20+ practitioners.
- Governance & Compliance: Align builds to enterprise governance (AI Risk Assessment, privacy compliance) and security by design.
- Outcomes & Metrics: Track outcomes—cycle time, defect escape rate, cost savings, adoption—and present insights to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–6 years of software engineering experience with focus on AI/automation, backend services, or integrations.
- Hands-on with Azure AI Foundry/Studio, Azure OpenAI, vector retrieval, tool-call orchestration, and agent frameworks.
- Experience with .NET/C#, Python/TypeScript, REST/GraphQL APIs, event-driven patterns, and secure auth (Managed Identity, OAuth2).
- Test automation experience (Playwright or similar), CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps), and IaC (Terraform/Bicep).
- Understanding of responsible AI, accessibility, and data governance; familiarity with enterprise processes and documentation.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills; comfort working across cross-functional teams.
Candidates who can showcase their AI work will be given preference.
