Solen Software Group is on a mission to revolutionize the vertical SaaS landscape by tapping into the untapped potential of proprietary operational data that our portfolio companies possess. This data is a formidable moat, but only if it's harnessed effectively. As an AI Engineer at Solen, you'll be instrumental in transforming this potential into tangible software solutions. Embedded within a small, dynamic AI pod, you'll be tasked with deploying real systems into real operational environments across our OpCos. Unlike traditional R&D or internal enablement roles, this position is about building, deploying, and making a measurable impact. Multiple pods are being launched globally, each with the same ambitious mandate, and measured against each other based on what reaches production and its tangible value.
What You Will DoEmbed and Innovate: Work closely with OpCo leaders to pinpoint high-impact operational workflows and then scope and construct AI-driven systems that enhance these processes. Your role is to convert complex operational data into efficient, AI-enabled solutions that resonate with real-world needs.
Integrate and Deploy: Seamlessly integrate with existing systems, whether they're legacy databases, undocumented APIs, or third-party SaaS platforms. Your goal is to ensure smooth data flow into and out of production systems, culminating in fully functional deployments.
Build and Monitor: Oversee the complete lifecycle of feature deployment in live environments, from initial build to deployment, monitoring, iteration, and final handoff. Establish evaluation frameworks to ensure systems are accurate and reliable, not just for show.
Standardize and Reuse: Transform bespoke solutions into reusable components that other pods can deploy without needing extensive rewrites. This involves creating integration adapters, evaluation harnesses, and templates that streamline future deployments.
Quantify and Validate Impact: For every system you deploy, produce tangible, validated metrics that demonstrate economic impact, such as time saved or costs reduced, verified by the OpCo operator.

- Proficiency in a modern backend stack (e.g., Python, TypeScript/Node) and SQL.
- Proven ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders to define and validate requirements.
- Comfort working without a project manager or predefined roadmap.
Preferred:
- Experience with vertical SaaS, ERP, or industry-specific software.
- Background in an early-stage startup or as a founding engineer.
- Experience using agentic coding tools as a core workflow component.
- Familiarity with workflow automation platforms and evaluation tooling.
- Exposure to private equity or multi-entity operating environments.
- Depth in data engineering, capable of building and consuming data pipelines.
This is not your typical AI engineering role. At Solen, you have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of companies with access to proprietary data that is unavailable to external AI vendors. The scope of work is broad, allowing you to identify problems, engage with operators, build solutions, and deploy them all within a rapid timeframe. The competitive environment within Solen is structured to promote transparency and accountability, rewarding those who can deliver significant, demonstrable value across our portfolio.
