As an AI-ML Strategy Director you will translate business objectives into end-to-end solutions across ML/AI, application integration, data and governance—defining value-first approaches and implementation roadmaps; guiding technology choices, process modernization, and people enablement. The ideal candidate brings the right blend of hands-on AI/ML/Data experience and expertise and broad consulting leadership. They have strong communication strengths with executives and technical teams, experience designing AI solutions that integrate with enterprise systems, and a pragmatic approach to tradeoffs between value vs. readiness vs. effort. They have the ability to mentor teams and shape repeatable assets and accelerators. You will be expected to actively sell and solution deals, while also contributing towards practice management.

Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Originate: Talk to potential clients and current clients to ideate ways in which we can help them.
- Solution: develop right-sized approaches to delivering value for clients on individual AI/ML/data engagements
- Deliver: take ownership of delivering multiple AI/ML/data projects in parallel
- Business operations: help Grant Thornton AI leadership operate the business by partaking in active pipeline discussions, hiring decisions, performance reviews, assisting with ecosystem partnership GTM motions, etc.
- People growth: mentor teams and individuals to them grow into the best version of themselves
You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related discipline
- 8+ years of experience - 5+ years of hands-on developer experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence stacks + 2+ years of experience selling, solutioning, and delivering AI/ML engagements.
- Ability to lead senior client stakeholders through decisions under ambiguity
- Experience to develop long-standing relationships with clients
- Experience leading AI/ML delivery programs
- Experience leading proposal solutioning / estimates / technical writing for pursuits
- Experience mentoring junior or senior colleagues
- Experience guiding clients on build vs. buy decisions of AI/ML powered use cases
- Flexible, adaptable and an eager self-starter
- English: Fluent spoken and written communications skills
- Prior consulting industry experience
- Consistent with the firm’s hybrid work model, this position will require in-person attendance at least 3 days a week either at a Grant Thornton office or at a client site

The base salary range for this position is between $170,568 and $274,554. Placement within the pay range is at Grant Thornton’s discretion, and it is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job -related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, progression within the role, geographic location, and internal equity. Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, or related discipline
- Managers: minimum 5 years hands-on developer experience in machine learning and AI stacks
- Directors: at least 2 years experience leading teams of AI/ML architects and developers
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering production AI/ML solutions in an enterprise environment
- Strong grounding in cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP), distributed systems, and modern data platforms
- Experience with MLOps practices (model lifecycle, monitoring, governance, deployment automation)
- Experience partnering with security/risk to implement privacy, access controls, auditability, and responsible AI practices
- Ability to lead senior client stakeholders through decisions under ambiguity
- Experience developing long-standing client relationships
- Experience leading AI/ML delivery programs
- Experience with AI patterns (RAG, agentic architectures, etc.)
- Experience leading proposal solutioning, estimates, and technical writing for pursuits
- Experience mentoring colleagues in AI/ML architectures
- Experience advising clients on build vs. buy decisions for AI/ML use cases
- Flexible, adaptable, and an eager self-starter
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Prior consulting experience or experience in an internal consulting role
- Hybrid work: in-person attendance at least two days per week (office or client site)
