We're looking for a skilled Science Writer & Editor (SEO Focus) who’s excited about the potential of AI in editorial workflows. You’ll play a key role in our SEO editorial team, using AI tools to research, draft, and optimize content that drives traffic, supports lead generation, and ranks in search. This is not about churn-and-burn content; it’s about smart, scalable editorial that brings value to our readers.

You’ll also be responsible for conducting keyword research and using SEO platforms such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console to identify opportunities and inform content strategy. You’ll help shape how AI is used to support content creation in a rapidly evolving media environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Use AI tools to generate, refine, and structure content that meets SEO and editorial standards
  • Undertake keyword research to identify high-value topics, map search intent, and guide content structure
  • Collaborate with SEO specialists and other SEO Editors to create scalable, search-focused content
  • Fact-check and polish AI-generated drafts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with brand tone
  • Monitor and analyze content performance using tools like Google Analytics and Search Console
  • Stay on top of Google algorithm changes, SEO trends, and new developments in AI and search

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in biology, chemistry or similar discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in SEO-focused writing, digital publishing, or editorial content creation 
  • Proven experience conducting keyword research and applying findings to content strategy
  • Strong working knowledge of SEMrush, Ahrefs, and/or similar SEO tools
  • Confidence using AI tools like ChatGPT for content ideation, outlining, and drafting
  • Excellent editing and fact-checking skills
  • Understanding of on-page SEO, metadata optimization, and user search behavior 
  • Adaptability to work in an experimental, fast-moving team environment

This position is remotely based and is open to all eligible Canadian candidates. Preference may be given to candidates in the Eastern time zone.
