AI and Automation Engineer

The AI and Automation Engineer role is responsible for oversight of the development and administration of process automation and data-centered AI projects that ultimately improve current processes and promote the company's expansion. With deep knowledge and expertise in utilizing process automation and AI to solve complex, real-world problems, the incumbent in this role recommends, and completes data-driven and process-driven projects which are geared at furthering the company’s interests. He/She pilots the development of cutting-edge Automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) driven solutions based on a rich stream of legal documents, statutes, claims, payer, and behavioral data. The role operates in a highly collaborative environment of automation engineers, data scientists, AI engineers, domain experts and business leaders to deliver automation and analytics products that have the potential to fundamentally alter how legal services are thought about and delivered on a large scale.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable workflows and RPA solutions using Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Workato, UiPath, or similar technologies).
  • Build custom connectors, applications, and integrations using Power Automate, SQL, Python, JavaScript, Powershell, React, and C#.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical AI and automation solutions.
  • Lead end-to-end automation lifecycle: discovery, solution design, development, testing, deployment, support and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance and data governance standards are executed during automation implementation.
  • Monitor and optimize bot or automation or AI model performance, handle exceptions, and ensure high availability of automation workflows.
  • Contribute to the development of AI and automation best practices, governance, procedures, and reusable components.
  • Develops complex algorithms and statistical predictive models by determining analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes.
  • Performs and leads the analysis of both structured and unstructured data to address various complex business challenges.
  • Designs, develops, and deploys AI agents and GenAI models, focusing on cognitive architecture, knowledge graph embedding, and multimodal learning.
  • Implements and manage MLOps and LLMOps pipelines ensuring efficient and automated model training, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Integrates AI/ML models with larger systems, including cloud-based infrastructure, software applications, and data platforms.
  • Stays up to date with the latest advancements in GenAI, ML, MLOps, LLMOps, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our AI technology stack.
  • Manages large and complex analytical projects from data exploration, model building, performance evaluation and testing.
  • Identifies meaningful insights from “big data” sources, assists in the creation of required ETL pipelines and data structures for Azure Data Lake and data factory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Hands on experience and strong expertise in advanced automation solution implementation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of agentic AI and ML fundamentals including classical ML, deep learning techniques, and LLMs.

  • Superb interpersonal, organization, time-management, and coordination skills.
  • Task-oriented with an ability to set goals and complete deliverables.

  • Demonstrated aptitude in Python with hands-on experience implementing production machine learning systems.
  • Skilled with relational databases, programming languages, web app frameworks, libraries, and tools such as Power Automate, SQL, Python, C#, React, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Hugging Face, OpenCV, NLTK, Spacy, LangChain, Airflow, RoboCorp, ML studio, Azure Document Intelligence, IDP, and shell scripting.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • This job requires the use and exercise of independent judgment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in RPA development/intelligent process automation.
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Power Automate, UiPath, Gen AI, or similar technologies.
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, JavaScript, React, and C#.
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as web applications, APIs, or Dynamics 365 is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices for automation delivery.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Master's degree in quantitative fields such as: Engineering, Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science required OR experience may be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • 2+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, Automation, Data science, software development, or a related field, with a focus on GenAI and ML.
  • Strong understanding of advanced mathematics, statistics, programming, data handling, ML algorithms and predictive analytics.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience using tools in at least one cloud computing platform such as Microsoft Azure (preferred) or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with DevOps, containerization (e.g., Docker), and agile development methodologies.

Skills Required
