PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Assist in coordinating clinical training experiences for health professions students throughout the Waco AHEC service area.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, communication, and retention of clinical preceptors and training sites.
  • Coordinate the review, tracking, renewal, and maintenance of affiliation agreements and related documentation to support clinical training sites, educational partnerships, and community-based learning experiences while ensuring compliance with organizational and partner requirements.
  • Coordinate logistics for student placements, clinical experiences, and community-based educational activities.
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education programs, workshops, conferences, and workforce development activities.
  • Support the administration and coordination of AHEC Scholars experiential learning opportunities and community-based training initiatives.
  • Provide oversight of the Waco Family Medicine volunteer program, including volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, recognition, and retention.
  • Lead efforts to evaluate, strengthen, and redevelop volunteer engagement strategies to support organizational priorities, workforce development initiatives, student programs, and community outreach activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, community partners, and training sites.
  • Maintain databases, records, and tracking systems related to clinical placements, continuing education activities, volunteer engagement, and participant outcomes.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and documentation required for grant compliance, program evaluation, and organizational reporting.
  • Coordinate communication between students, preceptors, educational institutions, and community partners.
  • Support planning and implementation of healthcare workforce development events, educational programs, recognition activities, and partner meetings.
  • Represent Waco AHEC at meetings, conferences, community events, and educational activities as assigned.
  • Travel throughout the Waco AHEC service area to support program activities and partner engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

AHEC Clinical Training and Education Coordinator

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree preferred. Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Education, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

 

REPORTS TO: AHEC Executive Director

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Training & Education Coordinator supports the development, coordination, and implementation of community-based clinical training, continuing education, volunteer, and experiential learning opportunities throughout the Waco AHEC service region. This position works closely with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, preceptors, students, volunteers, and community partners to facilitate high-quality training experiences that strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline and improve access to care in rural and underserved communities.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • One to three years of experience in healthcare education, workforce development, student services, volunteer management, program coordination, community engagement, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with healthcare professionals, educators, students, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, educational programs, events, volunteer initiatives, or training activities preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual communication platforms.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Commitment to improving healthcare workforce development and access to care in rural and underserved communities.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current Texas Driver's License.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Waco AHEC service area.
  • Occasional statewide travel for meetings and conferences.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and after-hours events to support educational programs, community outreach activities, volunteer initiatives, and workforce development events.
  • Ability to transport educational materials, event supplies, and program resources as needed.
