The Role

Job Description
Agricultural Manager
The Agricultural Managers key purpose is to direct the crop supply activities for the site. Through collaboration with other functions in the factory & wider business, these activities ensure that the crop demand plans, safety, quality & compliance requirements are all at the required standard.
The Agricultural Manager is also a member of the Factory Leadership Team.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Aligned with the sanctioned crop plan, direct the contracts of growers, crop scheduling, & harvesting
  • Lead the agronomy team to deliver the crop plan as per schedule
  • Lead the harvest & garage team to ensure high reliability of harvest equipment & ensure harvesting activities are aligned with the factory plan
  • Ensure the agronomy & harvest teams are focussed on delivering yield improvements, both within the factory & in the field
  • Build & maintain strong relationships with contract growers
  • Strong financial management of all crop supply & harvesting cost drivers
  • Ensure all compliance requirements are well understood & followed
  • Champion sustainability, research & development programs
  • Clear communication both internal to the factory & external to the wider business
  • Active member of the factory leadership team
  • Champion KHMS into agricultural practices
  • Work closely with commercial to develop & support growth strategies
  • Work with technical peers & industry experts (both internal & external) to support & improve agricultural practices


Education & Experience:

  • Experience in commercial vegetable or arable crop production environments
  • Experience of building & managing supplier relationships
  • Experience of leading high performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to enact positive change & a continuous improvement mindset
  • Food manufacturing factory experience is highly preferential
  • Experience of management of agricultural compliance activities is preferred
  • Tertiary qualifications in agricultural or horticultural science, agricultural commerce or similar
