JOB OVERVIEW:

As an Agile Program Manager (APM) you will support, facilitate and guide the software product development efforts of the organization or value stream for which you are responsible. You are the “glue” that ensures close collaboration between Product Management, Engineering and User Experience to deliver high value software products and solutions to the market. You also ensure close cross-functional collaboration with the value stream partners including Support, Marketing, Operations, Education, Technical Information and Technical Consulting during product/solution deployment and go-to-market activities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Agile Planning. The APM is responsible for defining the Agile Planning process for their value stream and ensuring that the process is followed. They schedule and facilitate the key planning meetings to determine upcoming software product development plans. Typically, Agile Planning is conducted on a quarterly basis. 

  • Quarterly Agile Planning Executive Reviews. Every quarter, the APM is responsible for organizing Executive Reviews for their organization or value stream. This gives MSD executive leadership a quarterly summary of execution  results for the prior quarter, a summary of plans  for the next quarter, and insights into future initiatives under consideration for the value stream.

  • Agile Execution. The APM is responsible for tracking work item progress and completion that results in the timely and regular delivery of high value software products and solutions to the market while adhering to Agile principles. They schedule and facilitate the key execution status meetings to hold scrum teams accountable for their commitments and deliverables. They prepare and share reports to show progress and results of Agile Planning activities. They closely track Milestones which represent key, high value software product and solution deliverables and manage the risks, changes, dependencies and issues that may occur for these Milestones.

  • Continuous Improvement.  The APM is responsible for running Agile Retrospectives for the purpose of continuously improving Agile Project Management practices including Agile Planning and Execution. This includes ways to save time, create efficiency and eliminate waste. Additionally, it may include finding ways to drive better behaviors or gather more meaningful insights and metrics.

  • Agile Enablement. The APM is responsible for collaborating closely with the Agile Coach to promote Agile principles, practices and behaviors. This may involve doing some Agile coaching for the organization or value stream leadership team at the program level to mesh well with the Agile principles, practices and behaviors being promoted by the Agile Coach at the team level.

  • Organization or Value Stream Leadership Support. The APM is responsible for bringing the organization or value stream leadership team together regularly to address all the issues that inhibit success by formulating action plans so that the scrum teams are not impeded and the business is sustainable. This includes working with the “4-in-a-box” leadership team to provide reports, metrics and insights to drive business value and success as well as collaborate on special projects and initiatives that are specific to the value stream as well as division-wide. The “4-in-a-box” leadership team includes Product Management Solution Lead, Engineering Director, Lead Architect and User Experience Director.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration. The APM is responsible for bringing together on a regular cadence (usually monthly) the organization or value stream leadership team with the cross-functional, value stream partners including Support, Marketing, Operations, Education, Technical Information and Technical Consulting. The purpose of these meetings is to inform the value stream partners on the initiatives and plans of the value stream to deliver software products and solutions to the market so that the cross-functional partners are able to integrate their activities in a meaningful way to ensure high customer satisfaction and business success.

  • Product/Solution Deployment and Go-to-Market Activities. The APM is responsible for coordinating the activities and checklists required for successful software product or solution deployments as well as for larger go-to-market initiatives. This includes facilitating cross-functional working group meetings as well as any executive reviews deemed necessary.

 

EDUCATION:

  •  A four-year degree in Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or other relevant degree

EXPERIENCE: 

  • 10+ years of related experience

  • Agile Project or Agile Program Management experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the software development life cycle

  • Experience with leadership by Influence

  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills

  • Broadcom Rally Application Lifecycle Management and Broadcom Clarity Project and Portfolio Management Software knowledge is a plus

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent preferred

  • Program Management Professional (PgMP) Certification preferred

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred

  • Agile Certification (PMI-ACP) / Scrum Master (CSM) Certification Preferred

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,000 - $172,800 

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
