Agile Product Owner III

Job Description Summary

As an Agile Product Owner III, you will serve as the voice of the customer within an Agile delivery team, ensuring work is aligned with business priorities and delivers meaningful value. You will partner closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to define product requirements, prioritize backlog work, and guide the delivery of product enhancements and solutions.

This role plays a key part in translating business needs into actionable features and user stories, facilitating collaboration across teams, and driving product strategy through data-informed decision making. The ideal candidate brings strong Agile experience, stakeholder management skills, and a passion for delivering customer-focused solutions.

This is a hybrid role, located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington

What You’ll Do

Product Ownership & Strategy

  • Serve as the voice of the customer within the Agile team, ensuring business priorities and customer needs are clearly understood and represented.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business and product strategies and communicate them effectively to Agile teams and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate relationships with business partners, vendors, and user communities, bringing their perspectives into product planning and delivery.
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, vendors, and technology teams for new product implementations and enhancements.
  • Leverage data, metrics, and customer insights to inform product strategy and prioritization decisions.

Backlog & Delivery Management

  • Own, maintain, prioritize, refine, and optimize the product backlog in collaboration with stakeholders and engineering teams.
  • Lead backlog refinement sessions to identify scope, dependencies, risks, and priorities.
  • Define, document, and refine business requirements through epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize work based on business value, customer impact, strategic alignment, dependencies, and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams throughout solution design, development, testing, and release activities.
  • Coordinate with other Product Owners to ensure alignment on priorities, dependencies, and roadmap objectives.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to develop measurable outcomes and define business value.
  • Facilitate product demonstrations and release reviews while taking accountability for stakeholder feedback and outcomes.
  • Communicate release content, product value, priorities, and roadmap progress to business partners and leadership.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders across business and technology organizations.

Testing & Quality

  • Coordinate and support user acceptance testing activities.
  • Review, approve, and accept completed user stories, enablers, and technical debt backlog items.
  • Ensure quality expectations are incorporated into requirements and delivery outcomes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, product delivery, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
  • Assess product opportunities and risks using key performance indicators (KPIs) and other performance metrics.
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in product ownership, product management, business systems analysis, systems analysis, business analysis, or related Agile delivery roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a software development environment using Agile delivery practices, including Scrum and SAFe.
  • Experience translating business needs into features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience using SQL or other data analysis tools to support product decisions.
  • Knowledge of healthcare or health insurance operations.
  • Experience with product development and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Confluence, Product Plan, and Visual Studio.

  • Experience defining requirements for moderately complex products, systems, and business processes.
  • Working knowledge of analytical tools, relational databases, and software applications.
  • Proven ability to analyze moderately complex business problems and data sets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Makes sound decisions through a combination of analysis, judgment, experience, and business insight.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills with a proactive approach to preventing issues and resolving challenges.
  • Ability to facilitate medium- to large-scale meetings and workshops using a variety of facilitation techniques.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous or evolving situations and helping teams gain clarity around requirements and priorities.
  • Reinforces a positive Agile team culture and addresses obstacles that impact team effectiveness.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.

National Plus Salary Range:

$111,900.00 - $190,200.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
