The Role
At Sovos, we're building the operational backbone of agile delivery for our sales and use tax (SUT) engineering organization. As an Agile Leader III, you'll own the processes, tooling, and data integrity that keep our sprint execution and quarterly planning running smoothly. You'll coach Tech Leads directly on execution-level agile practices, maintain Jira hygiene and automation, manage QVP planning logistics, and ensure delivery metrics are accurate and actionable. This is a detail-oriented, process-driven role where your Jira expertise and ability to hold teams accountable will directly impact our delivery health.
More specifically, you will:
- Facilitate Tax Tech Daily standups on a rotating basis, maintaining familiarity with each team's sprint goals, progress, and capacity to challenge vague goals and drive blockers to resolution.
- Attend sprint reviews and drop into team dailies to validate board accuracy, coach Tech Leads on data hygiene and process compliance, and escalate only when gaps point to broader team health issues.
- Gather throughput, carry-over, and sprint goal completion data across teams to support coaching decisions, and maintain strategic initiative tracking for leadership reporting.
- Own QVP planning logistics: schedule sessions, track cross-team dependencies and blockers, verify mandatory field and CapEx compliance, collect capacity submissions, and publish finalized capacity data to org dashboards.
- Coach Tech Leads on consistent application of Definitions of Done, Ready, and sub-task standards; track SOP renewal timelines and ensure documentation is completed on schedule.
- Build, maintain, and deploy Jira automation rules; audit boards for missing required fields and dashboard discrepancies; and flag non-compliance with clear guidance on corrections.
- Leverage AI tools (including Claude and similar platforms) to support reporting, documentation, and metrics compilation; build reusable workflows and coach Tech Leads on AI-assisted team workflows.
- Partner with Tech Ops and Product to maintain seasonal readiness materials and ensure they're accessible ahead of critical windows.
What You Bring to Sovos
- You've built solid experience as an Agile coach, Scrum Master, or delivery leader in software engineering organizations in an Agile coaching, Scrum Master, or delivery leadership role within a software engineering organization.
- You've facilitated Agile ceremonies at scale across multiple teams and have This posting clusters multiple credentials (years of experience, Jira expertise, facilitation at scale, coaching) without distinguishing which are hard requirements versus learnable on the job. Consider moving Jira automation-building to 'nice to have' if facilitation and coaching are the core competencies..
- You're detail-oriented and comfortable auditing boards and processes, holding teams accountable to data hygiene and mandatory field standards without escalating every gap.
- You've maintained shared team resources in Confluence or similar documentation platforms and can communicate clearly in writing and verbally to drive follow-through.
- You're curious and comfortable with emerging AI capabilities and can evaluate and apply them pragmatically within delivery workflows (practical experience with tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent is a plus).
- You're confident coaching Tech Leads directly on process and data standards and engaging with both delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
- Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.
