N/AJOB OVERVIEW:
The Corporate Sustainability Internship focuses on learning to develop and drive Corporate Sustainability programs/strategies across the organization. This internship will help the company collect reliable data and report out on sustainability metrics that our customers ask for through various reporting mechanisms. It will also allow for goal setting for reductions potentially resulting in cost efficiencies across utility usage.This opportunity is located at Blue Diamond Growers’ corporate headquarters in Sacramento, CA. This internship targets college/university student that are in their Senior year or Graduate students. We are looking for interns that are truly passionate about gaining corporate sustainability/ environmental compliance experience in a fast-moving consumer goods environment. Objectives will be given to the intern at the beginning of the assignment. This internship program is a 6 to 8-month assignment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists with the development of a data collection process and analysis for water, waste, energy, and greenhouse gas emissions for each of the facilities, ensuring consistency across all facilities.
- Runs reports focusing on sustainability guidelines, (e.g. greenhouse gas admissions) v employee engagement in programs; analyzes, recommends goals for reduction.
- Measures energy, waste, and water across growers, each facility operations, packaging and employee engagement, Health and Safety.
- Develops corporate campaigns to reduce resource use.
- Identifies and implements recycling incentives for broken pallets.
- Supports sustainability manager in gathering data at all three plant locations.
- Works closely with the sustainability teams for project development and support.
- Assists with facility audits as needed.
- Consolidates facility sustainability projects and outcomes to be communicated to management.
- Assists with database management and philanthropy tasks as needed.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Current enrolled college/university senior OR current enrolled college/university graduate student studying environmental engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, sustainability studies, or operations management.
