POSITION SUMMARY
The Nursing Supervisor assumes the responsibility and accountability for nursing care of all residents on her/his assigned shift. The Nursing Supervisor protects and promotes resident rights. Manages facility in accord with facility philosophy, in compliance with standards of professional nursing practice, and with all State and Federal rules and regulations. Utilizes resources in an efficient manner. Utilizes the nursing process in assessing emergent and non-emergent resident/visitor situations. In the absence of other nursing management is responsible for discipline, scheduling, supply appropriation, complaint reports and assisting nursing staff as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION:
Graduated of accredited school of nursing.
LICENSE:
Current, active license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan. Must have no restrictions of license.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in long term care in a supervisory capacity is preferred.

Successful performance of this job classification can best be achieved through consistent application of current knowledge, use of good judgement, common sense, ability to establish and carry out priorities, effective use of interpersonal skills and ongoing communication with residents, staff, families, interdisciplinary team members and government officials including State surveyors and ombudsmen.

Skills Required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Michigan with no restrictions
- Prior long-term care supervisory experience
- Knowledge and ability to perform essential nursing functions, use nursing process, and manage facility operations
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills with residents, families, staff, interdisciplinary team, and state surveyors/ombudsmen
