SMS is currently hiring for a Part-time elementary aftercare assistant
Your Role as an Aftercare Elementary Assistant
As our Aftercare Elementary Assistant, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can relax, connect, and continue learning through meaningful activities at the end of the school day. Working as part of our collaborative team, you will support elementary students through outdoor play, creative projects, homework assistance, and community-building experiences while fostering independence, responsibility, and respect. If you enjoy working with children, value teamwork, and are passionate about creating positive experiences that reflect Montessori principles, we would love to welcome you to our community.

Expectations:
- Monday-Friday
- 15-20 hours per week
- Hours available 2:30 pm-5:30 pm
- Ability to be on your feet
- Ability to lift and move
- Ability to conduct chores apart from child care
Requirements:
- Ages 18 or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to be certified
- Experience with children (preferred)
PLEASE NOTE: Employees who are made an offer of employment will be required to pass a post-offer pre-employment background process that includes passing a Basic TB and fingerprint test, and completing an online training program. Applicants who do not pass or participate in any of this pre-employment process will have their offer of employment rescinded.

Skills Required
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR and First Aid certified or willing to be certified
- Experience with children
- Ability to be on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move (physical capability)
- Ability to conduct chores apart from child care (cleaning/organizational tasks)
- Pass post-offer pre-employment screening including Basic TB test, fingerprint test, and complete required online training
What We Do
Salem Montessori School guides children from infancy through middle school, fostering a love of learning and educating them to be caring and socially responsible citizens. It is a small, mixed-age preschool where learning grows from curiosity.
