Job Summary:

The Elementary Afterschool Site-Leader is a temporary and part-time position designed for a current Reading School District (RSD) teacher to support Alvernia University’s elementary afterschool programming at Tyson-Schoener and Millmont Elementary Schools. The Site-Leader provides supervision of Alvernia staff and volunteers during programming hours, as well as programmatic coordination between the represented school and Alvernia program leaders. This position may be virtual or in-person depending on changes to RSD academic implementation. Up to 10 hours per week.


Essential Functions:

1. Supervise Alvernia student employees and volunteers during programming hours (remote or in-person).

2. Track and report on Alvernia student attendance and elementary student participation.

3. Regularly report and connect to Alvernia SRYI staff about program implementation, Alvernia student employment participation, elementary student engagement, and program challenges and recommendations.

4. Serve as a liaison with teachers and administration in the represented school to better align homework help & tutoring activities to curriculum and class assignments, encourage participation, and scheduling.

5. Coordinate use of technology to connect elementary students with university student employees and volunteers. This may include setting up Zoom meetings and breakout rooms and creating Dojo posts for teachers to encourage elementary student participation.

6. Attend and support training for Alvernia student employees and volunteers in mid-September.

7. Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University as demonstrated by the University Ideal Characteristics. Physical Requirements:

1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

2. Virtual and/or in-person attendance is required during program hours.
