As the Site Director, Licensed School-Age Child Care, you'll lead every aspect of a licensed before school and after school program, creating a safe, engaging, and high quality learning environment where children can build confidence, develop meaningful relationships, and discover their potential. You'll provide leadership for program operations, staff supervision, curriculum implementation, enrollment, family engagement, licensing compliance, fiscal stewardship, and continuous quality improvement while partnering closely with school leaders and families. How You'll Make an Impact

· Lead a high quality licensed before school and after school child care program where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn and grow.

· Coach, mentor, and develop a team of educators to deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum and exceptional experiences for children and families.

· Build strong relationships with families, school administrators, community partners, and licensing representatives to strengthen the program and ensure operational excellence.

· Oversee program enrollment, curriculum implementation, licensing compliance, fiscal stewardship, risk management, and continuous quality improvement.

· Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety, and belonging that reflects the YMCA's commitment to strengthening children, families, and communities.

Schedule

This is a full-time, year-round position supporting a licensed before school and after school child care program. During the school year, Site Directors typically work a flexible schedule that supports both before school and after school operations, including:

· Three days per week: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

· Two days per week: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (days may vary based on program needs)

During school intersessions and summer, Site Directors typically work Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Paid training, professional development, and occasional evening or weekend meetings, family events, and special events are required throughout the year.

Who We're Looking For

This role is ideal for an experienced youth development or licensed child care professional who enjoys leading people, building strong partnerships, and creating exceptional learning environments for children. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who can balance operational excellence with compassionate leadership while coaching Team Members, supporting families, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring every child experiences a safe, engaging, and welcoming program. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

· Twenty one (21) years of age or older.

· High school diploma or GED, supplemented by 15 semester units of college coursework, including 3 units in Administration or Staff Relations, 3 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child

Development (CD), or School Age coursework, and 9 additional units in any combination of Recreation (including art, music, or dance), Physical Education, Human Services or Social Welfare (such as psychology, sociology, nursing, or home economics), coursework toward an elementary or middle school teaching credential, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or School Age coursework. Additionally, 4 years of documented teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program is required.

· Two to four years of experience, based on educational qualifications, leading licensed child care, expanded learning, recreation, youth development, or comparable programs serving School-Age children, including experience supervising staff.

· Demonstrated ability to lead teams, implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, manage program operations, and build positive relationships with children, families, school partners, and community members.

· Strong communication skills, emotional maturity, sound judgment, and a commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and engaging environments.

· Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, completion of Preventive Health Practices training, and other certifications required by California Community Care Licensing, or the ability to obtain required certifications as a condition of employment.

· Completion of required health screenings, immunizations, and background clearances for licensed child care programs.

Skills Required

  • Be at least 21 years of age
