Reporting to the After School Director, the After School Explorers (ASE) Nurse will have the primary responsibility of providing health related services to students at the Junior School during ASE, in-service days and break camps. ASE has a daily enrollment of 75-125 Junior School students.

After School Explorers, Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00pm
In-service Days, typically 7 per school year, 8:00am-6:00pm
Winter & Spring Break Camps, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm
Primary Responsibilities:

Attend to sick and injured children. Advise parents regarding illnesses and injuries. Contact parents if student needs to leave school or in case of medical emergency

Maintain daily medical log describing symptoms, medical treatment, etc.

Maintain and administer medication and treatments (breathing, etc.) to students as requested by families.

Order supplies as needed

Work with the teachers, students, parents, and staff to teach health-related subjects when appropriate.

Implement CPR and other medical training (proper inhale & EpiPen use) to after school staff

Review and administer forms sent out by the school for permission for medical treatment and authorization for medications taken during school hours.

Provide support and advice to all members of staff on matters relating to student health issues.

Serve as first responder in emergency situations and perform first aid to sick or injured persons.

Maintain up-to-date emergency information and confidential records, and identify all health concerns to appropriate school personnel.

Receive daily report from school nurse and communicate with the school health team as needed

Work with the school-day nurse to review any health concerns with children attending ASE
Candidates must have a current PA license – RN or LPN, CPR certification, and Act 33/34 clearances.
Ideal candidates will have:
- three to five years of experience as a pediatric or acute care nurse
- a positive and warm bedside manner
- a demonstrated passion for working with and teaching adolescents
- superior interpersonal and communication skills
Skills Required
- Current Pennsylvania license - RN or LPN
