Leidos has a unique and exciting opportunity to offer a Network Engineer - Team Lead, who would like to expand their knowledge and grow with the Leidos team on the (AFNCR ITS) Air Force National Capital Region IT Services Program at Joint Base Andrews, MD . The Network Engineer is responsible for assessing systems, determining problems, providing solutions to issues that arise, designing systems, upgrading systems, maintaining systems and brainstorming possible improvements that can be made to a system in the future.
The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR, missions to include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites. The major support areas required are IT Operations and Maintenance; Plans, Projects, and Engineering (PP&E); and National Military Command Center (NMCC). The senior leaders and national defense missions that are supported require that the AFNCR operations never fail, resulting in a fast-paced, challenging, but also rewarding environment.

Primary duties are as follows:

Provide supervision and direction to support of contract network management staff assigned Joint Base Andrews (JBA)
-
Monitor network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
-
Plan implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network
-
Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel when needed on project solution and design.

Perform cost/benefit studies of network configurations and recommends enhancements
-
Direct acquisition, installation, and testing of network hardware
-
Advise network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations; and isolates, resolves, or circumvents network problems

Assess and perform server security audits and system vulnerabilities to ensure systems meet DOD security posture prior to Operational readiness.

Coordinate, facilitate, and verify Systems Engineering projects across multiple environments.

Conduct technical presentations for management and customer.
Basic Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6+ years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Proven experience with Network design, systems planning and DOD system security principles.

Ability to work independently or under generalized supervision with strong interpersonal and analytical skills
-
Must be comfortable working on multiple systems and components simultaneously in various configurations.

Be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking and communicate clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.
-
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8140 certification requirement
-
U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance required.
Minimum 8 years’ experience administering:
-
Expert networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
-
Expert knowledge of HAIPE/TACLANE management and designing encrypted networks
-
Expert knowledge of DoD Security compliance documentations
-
Expert knowledge of routing protocols, network services (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.)

Experienced with Cisco ISE and Cisco Cisco Catalyst Center Network Management (FKA Cisco DNAC)

Expert Knowledge of LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching, load balancers, subnets, configurations, and firewall technologies.

Active CompTIA Security + or CCNP Security certification

Active CCNA or CCNP certification
