The Aerodynamic Lead Engineer is responsible for delivering aerodynamic performance targets through simulation, physical testing, and design collaboration. The role ensures the vehicle meets range and NVH objectives via optimized airflow management and close coordination with Studio, Body Engineering, and Thermal teams.
- Develop and execute aerodynamic simulation strategies (CFD, wind tunnel).
- Define aerodynamic targets aligned with VTS (drag, lift, aeroacoustics, cooling).
- Lead aero feasibility reviews with Studio and Packaging teams.
- Lead aerodynamic optimisation activity.
- Guide surface development to optimize performance while respecting design intent.
- Coordinate and conduct wind tunnel testing and correlation with simulations.
- Track aerodynamic KPIs and highlight risks during vehicle development milestones.
- Support aero-related Lessons Learned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 5+ years in automotive aerodynamics with EV experience preferred
- Expertise in CFD tools (e.g., STAR-CCM+, Fluent) and wind tunnel test methods
- Understanding of aero-related impacts on range, NVH, and thermal performance
