Aero Operations Finance Leader is responsible for providing overall finance leadership in designing a proposal for, and subsequently leading the build and run of, a Project Accounting organization for the Aero Business line including both, Aero Services and Aero New Units.
As the Aero Operations Finance Leader, you will:
Help design proposal for a future Project Accounting organization and assess and evaluate options for the Aero CSA and Aero New Units business line, in line with the existing HDGT Services and New Units Operations Finance teams.
Define Roles and Responsibilities and create an Operating mechanism for collaborating between Region Operations, BU Finance and FP&A teams
Lead & develop a Controllership and accounting team to simplify and create world class standard processes & policies in line with those already defined in the Power Operations Finance model.
Translate concepts, develop strategy, implement change, create programs responsive to external environment, and participate in cross-functional business and cultural development.
Oversee all financial aspects of project accounting for including project setup, actuals booking, revenue recognition, manual journal entries, and reconciliations.
Leverage experience with pacing, GAAP, and Stat & Tax financials to streamline the connectivity between these areas.
Establish process to ensure legal entity financial quality (i.e., documentation for regulatory purposes, cash tax impact implications, etc.), and act as a point of contact (POC) for audit related inquiries.
Ensure financials of projects are in line with GAAP (e.g., revenue recognition, journal entries, etc.) and compliant with statutory regulations & global accounting policies.
Communicate balance sheet position to senior management on a quarterly basis.
Partner with the Risk Finance team on the Aero Services margin review process to enable Aero Services Finance to work with project managers to optimize performance of contracts.
Partner with Functions and Cost teams on the Aero New Units margin review process to enable Aero Services Finance to work with project managers to optimize performance of contracts.
Partner cross-functionally with Pole, BU Finance & fulfillment Leaders in the pacing process to deliver baseline financial case to BU Finance/FP&A teams.
Provide internal and external audit support relating to project accounting activity, balance sheet and P&L.
Drive a spirit & letter of excellence in Controllership (e.g., adherence to GE policies, transfer of best practices, internal controls, etc.).
Champion LEAN culture, lead transformation efforts in alignment with broader finance strategy, guide continuous improvement of processes, & prioritize automation opportunities.
Identify, recruit, grow, and retain talent with appropriate levels of expertise to deliver on the daily management and/or transformational priorities of the organization.
Foster strong partnership with and maintain accountability for execution performed by third party vendors on behalf of the Services Operations Finance organization.
Required Qualifications:
CSA/New Units accounting work experience either as a Controller, Risk Finance Leader or OTR Finance Manager
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge or experience
Minimum significant experience in finance or operations function in progressively larger positions of responsibility
Minimum proven experience of finance leadership
Desired Qualifications:
CSA, Projects & Upgrades accounting experience
Certified Public Accountant/Chartered Accountant preferred
Direct or indirect leadership of global teams
Ability to work under tight deadlines and to prioritize under pressure
Strategic thinker with the ability to create and execute concrete action plans
Demonstrated adaptability/flexibility: open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or ability to operate in ambiguous situations
