The Opportunity
Our US External Relations group is currently seeking an experienced and well-connected Advisor, Association and Coalitions to join our team, based in Washington, DC.
Reporting to the Director, US Federal Government Relations, this pivotal role is responsible for developing and implementing strategy for engagement with trade associations, industry partnerships, and coalitions for TC Energy.
What you will do
- Serve as a trusted advisor and advocate, ensuring TC Energy’s voice is heard and our interests are effectively represented within these organizations
- Monitor and analyze developments at industry associations that are relevant to TC Energy
- Prepare timely updates for relevant TC Energy stakeholders on association activities for internal TC Energy stakeholders
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for engagement with relevant organizations
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with association staff
- Coordinate TC Energy’s participation on various committees within industry associations
- Prepare position papers, talking points, one-pagers, and other materials to support TC Energy’s advocacy strategy
- Organize and lead effective internal meetings, briefings, and events to educate and engage TC Energy stakeholders on association activities and drive TC Energy participation in associations and coalitions
- Provide timely and insightful reports and recommendations to External Relations leadership on key association developments
- Collaborate with stakeholders to build coalitions, coordinate advocacy efforts, and amplify TC Energy’s voice on shared priorities
- Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, political fundraisers and other events to raise TC Energy’s profile and influence
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and strategic advice to internal teams on legislative and regulatory matters
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-Secondary degree in a related field
- 6 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or lobbying or other relevant discipline
- Proven experience and a demonstrated track record of success in coalition building and association management
- Proven ability to develop and execute effective advocacy strategies, leveraging relationships with industry stakeholders
- Experience conducting legislative and regulatory research, as well as data analysis and reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s in Public Administration or Juris Doctor)
- Knowledge of the energy industry and natural gas issues
- Experience working at a trade association or similar groups
This position requires candidates to:
- This position will involve travel and overnight stays away from home (estimated up to 25% of work schedule during peak work periods)
- Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours, as needed
