An Advanced Technologies Engineer develops strong relationships with all Toyota Automated Logistics business units to provide pre and post go-live efforts of Advanced Technology projects. An Advanced Technologies Engineer shall ensure all Advanced Technology Systems continue to operate at optimal levels well into the life of the system and that all clients are happy with the ongoing performance of the system.
Job Functions
- Work with the Director of Corporate Strategy on new advanced technologies Toyota is considering as a supplier
- Act as a liaison with Advanced technologies and Toyota for all support and maintenance issues
- Work with the Unified Support Manager in supporting advanced technologies that existing Toyota Support Personnel are not able to handle.
- Create standards on how an advanced technologies should be mechanically installed and electrically wired
- Work with the Project Managers and Site Supervisors during installations of advanced technologies by spending time on site to make sure it is being done to our best of breed standards
- Support the Manager of Mechanical Installations and team allowing Toyota to internally install our advanced technology solutions
- Partners with Project Managers to verify each site meets the necessary requirements before installation begins
- Support Projects Managers to optimize the advanced technologies after installation creating peak performance for our customers
- Train site teams and how optimize advanced technologies for peak performance
- Create a troubleshooting guide for advanced technology end users and Toyota employees
- Helps to maintain all our advanced technology installations by making a yearly site visits along with other support personnel that are under warranty or have paid for support.
- Make sure all firmware is up to date and that maintenance is being performed while working with Toyota Support Engineers
- Create a preventative maintenance plan each advanced technology end user.
- Work with Systems Maintenance Manager to provide a preventative maintenance service to our advanced technology end users
- Work with engineering manager to create standard designs and layouts for the workstation area around the Autostore ports. Pick to tote, carton delivery, pick to carton, pick to bagger, etc.
- Conduct training for Advanced Technology support position within Bastian Solutions and for the client (Maintenance, Project Engineers, Project Managers, BSS Team, Service Technicians, Toyota Support, Sales Force)
- Work with Unified Support Manager to ensure enough resources are trained to provide emergency support 24/7 on all Advanced Technology Systems, participate in on-call rotation.
- Train with BSS to check and service databases linked to all Advanced Technology performance.
- Formalize Super User and Maintenance training.
- Provide highest level of technical expertise to minimize the reliance on manufacturer.
- Provide Go-Live support to project team to gain knowledge of the system and ease the client’s transition to support.
- Attend support kick off meetings to transition from project team to support team.
- Ensure all Advanced Technology Systems stay up-to-date by monitoring manufacturer updates and pushing those updates to all clients when released.
- Aid in the sales process when requested.
- Maintain positive relationship with all of Toyota's Advanced Technology clients and use that relationship to promote site tours with Toyota Automated Logistics sales staff.
- Write Blog articles and host trade organization events to promote the all Advanced Technology offered by Toyota Automated Logistics.
Travel Requirements
- 50% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)
Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- Mechanical and electrical experience in the implementation of advanced technologies
- Understanding of the Exacta Software and how it interfaces with advanced technologies for logistic solutions
- Material Handling automation design and sales experience
- CAD experience (AutoCAD)
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
