Group Summary:
The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. Combining a deep systems knowledge to develop unique vehicle access experiences, intelligent visions systems and advanced automotive lighting technologies, MML's expertise light the path to innovation, safety and styling.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, participant and approve Customer Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) timing (Phased PPAP)
- Ensures all APQP requirements are known/tracked/adhered to using planned milestones
- Review Government Approvals required and developed Inspection Standards
- Leads Plant trials for Engineering changes, Tool Moves and New Program Launches
- Lead Launch and Warranty issue resolution in problem solving for applicable customer quality concerns. (Customer Specific Reports: 8D, 7 Steps, 5 Phases, Is/Is, 6 Panels, etc.)
- Participate in Warranty reviews and analysis at customer center
- Manages applicable new model launch field support to ensure effective containment and timely closures of issues
- Coordinate and participate in Internal/Supplier Drawing Reviews
- Prepare and complete Control Plans, component Receiving Inspection Matrix and Instructions
- Assist in Preparation and approval of Assembly Work Instructions
- Develop Product Validation Plan (Schedule) including reliability and confidence (R&C) requirements in accordance with Program timing
- Develop, implement and supervise Launch Containment System
- Participate in Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) review and team sign off
- Participate in Bill of Material (BOM) review and sign off
- Leads Engineering Deviation Request (EDR) process - status/follow-up/resolution
- Facilitate supplier deviation requests (SRCCD's, EDR's) through closure with the supply base
- Initiate and participate in Campaign Prevention review
- Coordinate and participate in Early Supplier Involvement with Design and Purchasing
- Adhere to all Product Delivery Process (PDP), Program Planning requirements and expectations
- Develop Customer attachment and contact point list
- Coordinate and ensure sign-off / concurrence of control plan / attachment point checklist in conjunction with Mistake Proof Evaluation Procedure
- Review GD&T, requirements of Finished Good/Components
- Prepare and present Launch QE Summary Report
- Develop Mapping Including Critical Characteristics Tables
- Review lessons learned database
- Establish Supplier PPAP timing and review/approve on time prior to Product Validation requirements
- Co-ordinate checking fixtures supply (design, manufacturing, Gage R&R, Instructions, Training)
- Support pre-production builds
- Conduct Test Fixture Verification - Vehicle alignment, review and signoff to verify sequence, setup, etc.
- Ensure proper level test parts are built and delivered to test lab
- Post test set-up and result signoff
- Timely Test Incident Report (TIR) response and resolution, out of Evaluation phase within 48 hours
- Lead TIR investigation for quality related issues, prepare 8D report and ensure timely closure of issue (DV)
- Develop annual validation (PV) plan for designated programs
- Participate in quality systems audits with customer and external auditors as required
- Perform other duties as required
Qualification and Skills:
- Completion of community college diploma/certificate
- 5-7 years of work related experience
- Completion of a post-secondary education program in mechanical/quality engineering
- ASQC certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred
- Tier 1 automotive experience preferred
