Role Specific Duties/ Role Responsibilities:
- This position plans, designs, and implements physical and logical wide-area networks (WAN), local-area networks (LAN), communications, and infrastructure across the client enterprise.
- Works with client staff to identify voice/data/video communications requirements. Perform system level assessments of communications systems.
- Researches and evaluates network technologies, protocols, and applications for application to the client environment.
- Supports the USCP mission through seamless, secure connectivity to all endpoints in the USCP infrastructure.
- Plans, acquires, fields, and operates network equipment and related technologies. Sets up, maintains, and supports the USCP networks, firewalls, and Internet access tools
- Provides analysis of interoperability, implementation, and integration issues related to topology, deployment strategies, operations, and management. Uses network design tools and techniques.
- Develop designs that support e-commerce and electronic data interchange (EDI) functions.
- Designs and optimizes network topologies and site configurations.
- Performs modeling and analysis at physical, data, control, and higher order protocol layers and develops/prototypes network/communications systems.
- Analyzes network characteristics and recommends procurement, removals, and modifications to network components.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, ensure knowledge transfer, and provide expert consultation.
- The Advanced Network Engineer is required to be onsite at the Fairchild Building in downtown Washington, DC three (3) days per week.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Have a minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
- Have a minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role like this requirement.
- Possess a Core certification within their functional area, such as a CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, C.16.5.
- Possess base-level certification, such as A+, Security+, or Network+
- Direct experience with network elements such as Aruba, Palo Alto, etc.
- certification (s) within their functional area, such as Microsoft, VMware and / or RedHat
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Additional Requirements as per contract/client (Optional or Preferred):
- Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant.
- Knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, UNIX).
- Experience with scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Perl).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure).
- Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP, IP).
- Proficiency with version-control systems (e.g., Git).
- Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical information to both technical and non-
- Attention to Detail: Minimizing errors and ensuring accuracy in system design and implementation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder briefings, technical documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
