As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be part of a team responsible for mechanical design, simulation, analysis and test of fans and compressors (FanC) in gas turbine engine (turbomachinery) applications within Honeywell Aerospace Engines and Power Systems.

You will support currently fielded products and contribute towards development of new products for a variety of turbofan, turboshaft and auxiliary power unit (APU) applications.

You will apply principles of design, physics, mathematics and software development to perform a broad variety of engineering tasks.

You will contribute to continuous improvement of design, analysis and simulation methods.

You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Perform activities related to mechanical design of rotating and static turbomachinery components, including modal/vibration/deflection/crack growth/burst/HCF/LCF/thermal and stack analysis with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as a core responsibility
  • Support testing of components and engine modules in various lifecycle stages (rig, development, production) and perform data reduction/analysis on test data
  • Generate documentation capturing engineering results and findings following design, simulation, analysis and test activities
  • Develop and present engineering artifacts during structured design reviews
  • Contribute to technical mentoring, process/tool improvement and knowledge capture
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • 5+ years’ industry experience w/B.S. degree, 2+ years’ industry experience w/ M.S. degree or PhD
  • Experience w/ commercial FEA software such as ANSYS Mechanical, Simcenter NASTRAN or equivalent

WE VALUE

  • Experience with AI/ML, adjoint optimization and multidisciplinary optimization
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python and C++ scripting
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery test methodologies such as strain gages, light probes and kulites
  • Familiarity w/ manufacturing, product support, and field support of gas turbine engines
  • Problem solving proficiency w/ root cause analysis (RCCA)
  • Strong writing, speaking and presenting skills
  • CAD based modeling experience (e.g. NX, UG, Solidworks, CATIA)

Skills Required
