Vertiv is seeking a Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to help define, scale, and optimize the manufacturing system supporting Strategic Thermal Labs (STL). This role is responsible for shaping future-state manufacturing strategy, production system design, capacity expansion planning, facility optimization, and industrialization approaches that enable long-term business growth.
Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Automation, Supply Chain, and Business Leadership, this position will help ensure STL manufacturing capabilities remain scalable, efficient, and ready to support future products, technologies, and customer demand.
This role combines near-term manufacturing readiness and startup support with long-term factory planning, production system evolution, and manufacturing strategy development.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Strategy & Factory Planning
  • Define and support long-term manufacturing strategies that align STL manufacturing capabilities with future business objectives.
  • Develop factory planning, production system, and capacity expansion roadmaps supporting future growth.
  • Evaluate future-state manufacturing concepts, technologies, and operational models.
  • Support major manufacturing investment decisions through capacity, throughput, and operational analysis.
  • Establish manufacturing system standards, principles, and best practices that can be scaled across future operations.
Production System Development
  • Support development and continuous improvement of STL manufacturing system architecture.
  • Define production flow, material movement, work-in-process, storage, and material handling strategies.
  • Develop capacity models and production scenarios to support business growth planning.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing system requirements are incorporated into facility, equipment, automation, and process planning activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, scalability, flexibility, and operational performance.
Manufacturing Readiness & Industrialization
  • Support manufacturing readiness initiatives for new products, technologies, and production capabilities.
  • Lead planning activities supporting factory startup, commissioning, and production ramp efforts.
  • Develop industrialization strategies for future manufacturing processes and production technologies.
  • Support manufacturing transfer, production launch, and expansion activities.
  • Ensure manufacturing requirements are incorporated early in product and process development efforts.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Facilities, Supply Chain, Automation, and AME teams on strategic manufacturing initiatives.
  • Communicate manufacturing strategies, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to plant, business, and executive leadership.
  • Lead initiatives requiring coordination across multiple functions, disciplines, and stakeholders.
  • Support development of long-term manufacturing roadmaps aligned with business growth objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, factory planning, industrialization, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing system development, production launches, capacity growth initiatives, or factory expansion activities.
  • Experience with facility layout planning, material flow design, capacity planning, or production system optimization.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing readiness, industrialization, new product introduction (NPI), and production ramp methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project execution skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a complex manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting greenfield manufacturing facilities, factory startups, or major production expansions.
  • Experience developing manufacturing roadmaps, business growth scenarios, or long-range capacity plans.
  • Familiarity with facility layout, process modeling, manufacturing simulation, or production system analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies, capital equipment implementation, and advanced manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience within a global manufacturing organization.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PMP, or equivalent professional certifications.

 



Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, factory planning, or production system development
  • Experience leading manufacturing system design, facility planning, production launches, commissioning, and capacity expansion initiatives
  • Experience developing production layouts, material flow strategies, labor models, and capacity planning tools
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing readiness, new product introduction, industrialization, and production ramp planning
  • Experience with factory optimization, continuous improvement, and large-scale manufacturing transformation initiatives
  • Proficiency with CAD, facility layout, process modeling, and manufacturing simulation tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, FlexSim, or Arena
  • Working knowledge of ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems within a production environment
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex manufacturing projects in a global manufacturing environment
  • Master's degree in a related technical field
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, PMP, or equivalent professional certification
