Job Description SummaryThe Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – NPI Process Development is responsible for tooling and fixturing designs and process development used in the manufacture of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) products. This role will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and manufacture complex state-of-the-art MRI system tooling and fixturing components throughout all phases of the manufacturing process as well as develop or enhance existing processes. Activities include detailed mechanical and structural design of sub-system and component manufacturing aids related primarily to MRI superconducting magnets, including analysis, simulation, documentation, prototyping, testing, verification, qualification, demonstration of use and integration as well as process development and validation.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative designs to meet all manufacturing requirements for assembly, test, and manufacturability
  • Preparation and presentation of tooling and fixturing design reports and part/assembly drawing reviews
  • Participate and lead prototype build activities to ensure compliance with design intent
  • Develop product and component tooling and fixturing and purchase specifications
  • Develop tooling/fixturing/processes using appropriate DFx, Six Sigma, and Lean tools
  • Design leadership of productivity projects (both product cost and life cycle quality or reliability improvements)
  • Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system manufacturing challenges from the factory

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years of engineering design or Manufacturing Engineering and Process Development experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Direct design & analysis experience of mechanical components
  • Modeling skills with experience in solid modeling packages such as CREO, Windchill, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Effective understanding and working knowledge of metals, plastics, and composite materials
  • Experienced in tooling and fixturing design
  • Experience utilizing DFx, Six Sigma, and/or Lean principles
  • Hands on hardware experience on mechanical systems and components
  • Paper to product experience with ability to read and apply GD&T
  • Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams
  • Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
