Job Description SummaryAs an Advanced Lead Process Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for developing, implementing, and scaling robust processes that enable reliable, high precision manufacturing of advanced materials and composite hardware in some of the harshest aerospace environments. You will own critical process operations and projects, leading efforts from lab and pilot lines through full rate production, and ensuring that safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met.
You will serve as a process specialist who provides consultation and guidance to product, material application, manufacturing, and design teams, synthesizing research and development results into practical processes for aircraft engines, hypersonics, and other aerospace applications. In this role, you will drive process risk reduction (D/PFMEA), develop and protect intellectual property, and support business development through process capability insights and technical input to proposals. You will also partner closely with operations to troubleshoot complex process issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enable current and future programs to hit their milestones and deliver on their commitments.

Job Description

The Advanced Lead Process Engineer applies their technical knowledge and expertise to lead aspects of technology maturation and product development across our application portfolio. This role works independently and with adjacent teams to develop, mature, and implement processes – both conventional and novel – that support manufacturing of advanced materials and composite hardware for aircraft engines, hypersonics, and other aerospace applications. This position collaborates closely with supply chain, materials, quality, and design teams to meet business and customer objectives.

  • Synthesize and clearly communicate results of research and development activities related to material and process development; prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Support business development activities as needed through process capability insights, risk assessments, and technical input to proposals.

Process Development and Execution

  • Prioritize and complete process engineering projects to achieve business objectives for product delivery, technology and process maturation, and process risk reduction (e.g., D/PFMEA).
  • Develop subject‑matter expertise on process mechanisms (e.g., forming, curing, heat treatment, machining, inspection of CMCs) and apply that learning to solve problems and develop/protect intellectual property (IP).
  • Define, validate, and document standard processes (work instructions, process control plans, control limits) to enable repeatable and capable production.
  • Lead process qualification and scale‑up from lab and pilot lines to full‑rate production, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met.

Product and Process Application

  • Practice applied creativity to develop processes and approaches that meet customer and product requirements for CMC components in demanding environments.
  • Maintain focus on practical application of processes to current and novel future program/product requirements, including design changes, new materials, and new manufacturing technologies.
  • Partner with manufacturing engineering and operations to ensure processes are robust, safe, and producible, including troubleshooting process issues on the shop floor and driving continuous improvement.
